Lotusken Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I've recently got into pvp and I'm having some fun. One thing I am wondering is why do agents seem so much faster? I mean as Operatives. I know there is a stat that boosts your attack speed, I'm just wondering when you can implant that into your armor or character? I'm level 30 at the moment and I can kill most people one on one, even head on, but I can't be an operative it seems. Just looking for tips on how to improve.
utuwer Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 (edited) Their stabbing animations are just plainly faster than our shotgun's. They just swing their knife left and right, while sco has to pull out the gun from the back, shot, then put it back. In theory, skills of both will deal dmg as soon as you press the buttons regardless the animation. In fact, due to the latency, Ops stabbing always seems to deal dmg way faster than Sco. Of course, there is an exception that some hacks the game client and make their toon extremly fast moving speed, skills, etc. Edited March 26, 2012 by utuwer
Coldin Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 It's just animation differences. The knife attacks just execute much faster than the shotgun blast and punches of the Scrapper. Technically, this all balances out with global cooldowns, but it does have a major effect on the feel of the classes. No idea about any hacks, though I'm sure they exist.
Lotusken Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 It just sucks lol. I'm suppose to be the class that pops out of no where and overwhelms other classes. Yet I get overwhelmed so easy by ops it's not even funny. Before I even realize it, I have like 6 knives in me and I'm on the ground and stunned
ImApologetic Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Imo they just need to add a visual for the *Knife* on an operatives sleeve, and allow scoundrels to hold their scattergun in the other hand. would resolve some animation issues. Rather than having to reach over our heads to grab a "shotgun" we would only have to bring it up to shoot them, similarly to what operatives do now with just swinging their arm and the knife appearing as they use their skills.

Scoundrels just constantly carrying around the scattergun in their hands? That would get heavy. I don't think that would change much in terms of animation though, as the knives and scatterguns just instantly appear in our hands anyway. So it would really involve them changing the animations, which they probably should do anyway. Slightly off-topic, but I do wish they would put a place for our scatterguns and knives to show up. Either on the back, or at the side, and then create some additional models for them.

It just is an illusion I think, as others point out the animations for an Operative play faster so the attacks look faster. Either way, for both Scoundrel and Operative, the damage is applied instantly, then the animation plays. If it were a case of the shotgun animations running longer than 1.5 seconds (the length of a GCD), then there would indeed be a problem, as that might interfere with the next attack but I'm pretty sure all our 'slower' animations fit within 1.5 seconds. But, as a question, since I haven't played as an Op, what exactly is this stat (or mod) that boosts attack speed and obviously since we Scoundrels are the mirror class we would have that one too yes ? Alacrity stats don't work in that respect for us, that's for sure. Edited March 26, 2012 by Theagg
LilTsar Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 (edited) there is a tier 2 talent in scrapper and the concealment mirror that and i quote "increases movement speed by 15%" called sneaky, and it also buffs "effective stealth level". its poorly worded, but i think that the 15% applies to in-combat speed, not in-stealth despite the context and icon. will be testing this today as soon as i spec back to dps. It's to all movement. It doesn't stack with Sprint, however, so you only get the benefit in combat.
Merk-aba Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) Personally. I'd really prefer to not have a pistol at all and just carry a shotgun.. or have a Blaster Rifle/shotgun addon underneath. heh, over-under rifle/shotgun and lets get rid of these pistols.. and silly animations of reaching over head for a shotgun.
