CrisG Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I know we have a sit command now but it would be nice to be able to sit IN the chairs in the louunge or the class rooms in the Academy or on the various benches around the SW World, The animiations are there i think just need to have the Devels place sit markers on the various sittable furniture Would be great to be able to have meetings and sharing with Guild Members that way anywhere in the world... just a thought.

Nice that you can sit in the ship but it would be somewhat nice to do so in actual chairs. Who knows what guild might sit at some random table discussing plans in a role-playing manner. Maybe you just want to sit away from the rest of the group? All for AFK and visual pleasures. Too much of a hassle? The expert could tell the grunt in Bioware to code all the chairs while the main guys equally slave away at the major features. Like the Sith, get slaves to do your dirty work for the chairs and see what kind of eastereggs we might get from the boredom . Crap....my plan got loose. We already have the sit-animation (we can sit in the ship, after all), and the chairs are already there. It shouldn't be too difficult to do this. Oh, and /signed, of course.
CrisG Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 Thanks to all who signed and approve, I have modded other games and worked with such challenges and it really does make a huge difference in immersion to be able to have something of a "normal" routine. say after a mission go sit in the cantina, order a drink (yes waitresses who come take orders!!!!) and relax, and watch that Rest Area load bar creep to the positive..and ....chat about the missions done and the missions to come. I love this game and am trying as i go to think of things that may not have been done but which could be...if they are adding sittable chairs that means they already have the code and an automated program to code sitable places..ie benches, and chairs that are already in the game would be childs play for a decent coder and I expect they have master coders on board. So ...lets hope this gets read by a Devel and acted on. thanks again for the support.

It would be great to be able to sit in the chairs without having to: Jump on them, move forward in just the right place, /sit, then realize your head is sticking through the back, so you stand, move forward, /sit. OK, thats better now. Plus, when you /sit on chairs, you look ridiculous with your legs partially open like... Never mind, not going there. But the /sit command looks ridiculous, sitting on the ground, or on the chairs. Edited March 28, 2012 by Roccobb

I hope so. I am sure nobody here can actually answer this with any authority... But here we go. Did they manually program every chair and bench into the game in that particular spot? Or did they create the bench, give it properties, and put the item in that location? If they did the first one, then that would explain the optimization issues with this game. If it is the second, then shouldn't they be able to go into the properties of "bench 1" and make give it the same sit as the chairs on our ship?
CrisG Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 I am pretty sure they placed the objects of whatever description at some point tho they may have used modules as elements with all the basics like lights, and walls, flloors, roofs, furnitures, triggers etc and then done some custom placement for missions and so forth. Maybe we will indeed hear something for this would be an easy upgrade and might be quite popular with players.

And really, in other games you CAN sit in every chair... finding the seats in at least the cantinas to place an invisible sit object should not take more than a few days.
