newVenari Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I suggest keeping Sprint at 14. I feel that a sense of accomplishment at 14 has a higher value than being able to zoom everywhere at level 1. Also, I would much appreciate NOT turning this into World of warcraft, where people whine for what they want, instead of working to get it. All good things come to those who wait, and work for it.

Umm..no. Not by a long shot dude. They won't do that. This isn't the age anymore of people working for what they get. People want the crap now. Yes they will some things were you work to get what you want, but overall the majority of people ARE the whiners and will continue to be catered to for eons to come. That's just the way it is in the human sociey now unfortunately. Plus this is the game of alts. I LOVE sprint at level 1 for my characters I have started all over again and it is SUCH a time saver. No more moaning that maps are too big. I love it, majority of people love it. So just..I know what you are saying but a lot of people begged BW for it, so they got it. Just be happy with it and know you have a sense of accomplishment in other things in the game. Like getting to know your character, story, and challenging yourself to be more patient to listen to the story
CeruleanNite Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 (edited) Sorry, if you dont want sprint before 14 then dont use it until 14. Also, there is no work to getting sprint. You hit level 14, go to the trainer and look you have sprint. No work. /not signed Edited March 26, 2012 by CeruleanNite
monkgryphon Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Wont break my immersion or fun by having it at level 1.
itekazzawrrlic Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Wont break my immersion or fun by having it at level 1. So why don't they just give everyone everything at lvl 1?

How exactly is sprinting an 'accomplishment'? Is this something that comes from the 'achievement' generation? I don't get it, you didn't have to actually accomplish anything for it, it was just time. It's only a movement option that makes running around a tad less tedious and boring for both new and old players alike. As for the whole whining thing, which whine does Bioware ignore? People whining to get it lowered or people whining to keep it as is? As someone stated in another thread on this, the only reason not to have this comes down to: I had to suffer through it so you should too.
Roccobb Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 LOL, I love how people say that something that only affects individual players seem to believe that they have the right to assume how everyone else should play the game. There is no fun it is going to ruin. It will just make getting around that much faster. Do not tell me how to enjoy my play time, and I will not tell you. Are they forcing YOU to use it before 14?

Ummm no after lvling up my 3rd 50, i want sprint at lvl 1.
Henu Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I think lvl 10 is better for sprint, i feel BW are just giving people what they want and its turning the game into lazy mode. i like to work for things not just be given things.

You don't work for it right now, they simply give it to you at level 14. Is there some sort of 'sprint raid' that i missed?

Ketchum Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I don't understand why they lowered the level for it. It would have been easier to make it the default run speed, but that's a different point. I agree with keeping it at 14. Easier does not always equal fun.
Lightmaguz Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 it's fine on level 1, would have saved a lot of hassle for me and will make the game better for newcomers.
VanguardXL Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 How is sprinting an accomplishment? The translation for the OP and those agreeing with him is this; "I didn't get Sprint til 14, so no-one else should either."
newVenari Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 You have something to work toward. Something to keep you going: being able to move around at a half decent speed. For those who say it's no work: going through the "origin" stories is a bit of a hassle. That's work enough for getting sprint. Rome wasn't built in a day, and Donovan Bailey didn't become a fast runner the day he was born.

GalnarDegana Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 One should never defend a system for no reason other than one worked hard at it. Sprint at level 1 is sort of weird, since they could just increase natural out-of-combat run speed by 35% and eliminate Sprint as a usable skill altogether, but it is a welcome change to those of us running dozens of alts through, and it is a quality of life change for people coming into the game. The fact is, this is by no means a game-breaking change, and we won't even care to remember when you didn't have Sprint at level 1 a few years from now.

It doesn't "ruin" the game at all. Donovan Bailey may not have ran when he was born, but unfortunately he is not a full grown adult video game character. And when you're fully grown the day you were made, you can run. And run a little faster.

How about no. Even with sprint everything is tediously slow as heck.
Mithros Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 They have explained their reasoning for this change, and in light of that, anything beyond level 10 is an unreasonable request. They have decided that it is not a good thing to have a 10-13 level character in PvP capped at a lower speed than a 14+ character in PvP. That certainly seems reasonable to me. What justification is there to keep it at 14? That you had to wait until 14? It certainly doesn't impact your game experience in any real way if I am able to sprint at level 1. Okay, maybe we are being all hardcore and farming resources, and since I am using sprint I am getting more nodes than you, but if you are not using sprint, that can't be my fault.* If they want to make it 10, that's fine, but any higher than that and it starts interfering with other players. It's not just the level 10 character that suffers from not having sprint; When they enter a warzone, their entire team may suffer, and there is just no good reason for it. *Disclaimer: I try to give other players plenty of leeway regarding harvesting nodes. This is just an easy example.
CorellianWannabe Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 So why don't they just give everyone everything at lvl 1? So let's restrict green gear to level 30, blue to level 40, and purple to level 50. Orange will only drop from nightmare mode operations. Let's also remove speeders until level 50, as players need carrots to work for. There, do you feel accomplished now?
XenusParadox Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Honestly, I wish they'd give me a dang SPEEDER at level 1. I want to spend my time doing quests, not running out to them.
