Michaelphoenix Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Just wondering how long i should wait in the 50s bracket before requeueing after a losing streak to get a new mix of players. U know what i mean when you have about 3 matches ina row with the same people that cant pass, cant stop a cap etc and u need some new blood
vimm Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I just keep queuing. I like to see how many warzones I can lose in a row, while still trying to win. That way I can complain about it and get sympathy.

Cheeseblaster Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I just requeue as well. Eventually you get a good group which you may miss if you don't rq. Besides with all the nerfs and caps now, besides the daily wins column, even if you lose you can get almost as much reward as winning. for example if you lose... alloted 3 kills towards daily/weekly checkalloted 3 medals towards comms check And since you need 30 kills to get the daily if you only win 3 out of 10 matches you got the daily for the wins, and should easily get the daily for kills as well in the rest even if you lose.

U know what i mean when you have about 3 matches ina row with the same people that cant pass, cant stop a cap etc and u need some new blood Depends on the reason for/nature of the losing streak. Matches that just don't seem to bounce your way-- I'll not wait at all If there one 4 person premade and I've been placed opposite them several times-- not likely to wait, law of averages says I'll pair in with them a couple times and if our 8 solo queuers put up a good fight and surprise 'em with a win all the sweet. I'll pair bad group division (i.e. all solo queuers but 4-5 'goods' on one side vs. only 2-3 on the other) in the same category as the above, odds are I'll get a run of a few where I'm on the side with the advantage, or the solid players will be more evenly split. But when an opposite faction group is just dominating, that is the time where I'll step away for at least an hour or two unless I already have my 3-win daily and am just a few away from the 10-match one.
gofortheko Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 If we are losing and bad I usually get my 4 medals, then proceed to talk **** for the rest of the match at how bad my teammates are playing. It usually results in a few bads getting upset and name slinging during the match. Quite the riot full of laughs.
ShadowOfVey Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 (edited) If you wait around you're probably more likely to get the same premade group again as opponents, unless you really wait a while. The game doesn't keep your group intact after you complete a war zone, so they have to reinvite everyone to their group again, make sure everyone's out of the queue, then queue as a group properly...it can take a little time. So if you lose a warzone and a new one immediately pops, go ahead and join it. That premade probably will be busy arranging their group again. As far as keeping the bads off YOUR team though, you could wait a few minutes. If you do, they'll likely have joined a warzone which you'll miss. Hopefully another one will pop while they're still busy. Course your opponents could be just about anyone. I think it's better to just join WZs as fast as you can honestly. Stay in the queue and take what you get. Probably make more progress that way in x time period than you will waiting and pausing trying to game the queue system. Edited March 26, 2012 by ShadowOfVey
signahead Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 (edited) It depends on a lot of things, like the way our team performed, the way our losses happened and, most importantly, how I feel at the time. If the team is performing really badly, especially if they're complaining in Ops chat (have pep talks like "Quit at life" or "How did you let them take mid?" ever made a pickup team play better?), dropping out en masse after the opponent pulls ahead (when that leads to the Warzone ending early I get unreasonably angry), or trading wins in Huttball (that was a very frustrating night of PvP), then I've learned to take a break before I lose my temper. Either I'll switch to another bracket or just run 20 or 30 minutes of PvE. A few times, I've even switched factions for an hour or so. I have a mid-teens Pyrotech who exists solely to find those frustrating Republic teammates and set them on fire. I'm not sure if it's healthy, but it's very satisfying. Once I stop seeing them in Warzones, I switch back to my Republic characters, and my mood is usually much better. Edit: Forgot to add this to my original post — When things are busy in the level 50 bracket, I can wait for about 10 minutes (a little more than half a match) and that's usually enough to find a new team. When it's slower, it can take much longer. Usually I wait for an hour or more and hope that my frustrating teammates give up and log off themselves. Edited March 26, 2012 by signahead
ADMCD Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I don't think I've ever had a losing streak of more than 2-3 games. What would be considered a good number for a streak of anything?

Smashbrother Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Since ilum sucks and there are usually more imps there than reps (i'm rep), it's not very fun trying to farm armaments at ca. Thus, I have to play at least 10 games to get the ilum daily done. There is no Queue-Fu that one can rely on to avoid baddies and opposite faction premades. So just join games as they pop. If you can't get 3 wins after 10 games, you should start looking towards yourself as the problem.

sotadpole Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I generally also just requeue. So far my losing streak is at 9, I've had the same weekly for 2 weeks and I'm at 6 wins and 2 wins for my daily that I've had for 3 days. Sometimes it is just plain bad luck.

I'm not going to call you bad or anything, but a losing streak that high usually means it's on your end. Psychologically speaking, when people lose more and more, they get frustrated, which causes them to play worse than normal. This in turn makes them lose, and you can see how this cycles around. If you are on a losing streak (5+), I'd just quit playing altogether and do something else to get my mind right. Then go back and win.

That is totally dependent on personality. I for one dont "often" get frustrated by losing. I get Furiously determined. Makes me play harder and more precise (put on my business socks). Even if we are going down, I will take as many down with me as I am able. Ofcourse this could be conditioning I've developed over the years from Exclusively PuGing in every MMO I have played. I just keep signing up stubbornly. Edited March 26, 2012 by Kalliadies
