Get rid of the fleet

Personally I think it was a terrible to have the fleet ships as the social hubs when the factions have Capital Cities which are desolate of players.

 

If players were encouraged to socialise in the Capital Cities then that feels more like "Star Wars" to me.

 

Both of the cities have the necessary functionality already including GTN's, Banks and crew skills trainers. The Flashpoint entrances and missions could be found in the Captial Planets Space Ports, with Shuttle bays acting as the Flashpoint and Operation "gateways".

 

The only thing that would need attention is reasons for boarding the Black Talon (possibly the Republic one too, I don't know). But I think that could quite easily be amended without largely affecting that instance.

No vote for me. I like how easy the fleet is to manuever. And the fact the whole thing is a rest area means after dailies I log off and get my rested without having to run around. Fleet is very easy. Spaceports are not.

You could do all that by making the Faction Cities into rest areas. Just like the cities are in other games. They are big enough to "maneuvre around".

Would they be as simple and condensed like fleet is? I like how everything is very easy to find in a small area.

I'm not necessarily agreeing that the fleet should be removed but that coruscant and dromand kas should be brought into line with them a little more.

 

I believe the fleet datacrons should be capital datacrons instead, there should also be more reasons to return to your capital worlds and they should be an entertaining reason not a drag.

 

I would like to see:

 

-Capital world dailies (I figure they could open up some existing blank doors on the home world to lvl50 solo zones).

 

-More high level vendors (this would also ease lag on the fleet during busy times)

 

-Enable mounts within coruscant space port ( I am sure dromand kas is the same) This is my least favourite part of coruscant as the journey from hangar bay to the exit of the building is rather a long one.

 

-Some form of gambling area with betting on swoop/pod racing and slot machines and perhaps a big lotto where half of the ticket price gets removed as a cash sink and the other half goes to the jackpot.

I've not hit 50 yet, so this may already be in the game, but I would think the Jedi would have an awesome Jedi temple to hang out. Corascuant is suppose to have a Jedi Temple when I was there I did not see anything that remotely looked like a Jedi Temple, which is quite a central part of that planet importance.

The temple is there, it's just smooshed from the last time the planted was attacked (the events referred to the sacking of it occur in KOTOR 2). It's in ruins. The Jedi temple in this game is on Tython and it has a bar inside which I have never used.

The Jedi Temple was destroyed when the Sith attacked Courscant. It's there but it's still in ruins because the Jedi have not rebuilt it. Instead they built a new temple on Typhon.

This is incorrect the KOTOR 2 occurs some 300 years before SWtOR the sacking of coruscant only happens about 10 years before the game (I can't remember exactly) The jedi order is nearly eliminated during KOTOR 2 hunted by the sith assassins but I don't believe the temple is damaged significantly. One of the pre launch cinematics showed the sacking of the Jedi Temple by Darth Malgus during the sacking of coruscant.

The thing that would be really nice is to have some sort of ingame event that blows carrick station up, and we are forced to flee. And build up a social quarter on the capitals for the lvl 50s.

 

Having like nice cantinas with bands playing, and other nice features. Think that would be more fun to hang around in then running around in circles, And Coruscant has more feeling then Carrick Station.

 

Think the Rp and social aspect would skyrocket from what we have now.

Agreed. Same goes for DK.

 

To me, having a busy DK would be good for all. Especially new players who leave the starting areas and visit the captial worlds to find them bustling with players. Yes, this happens on the station, but the stations feel so.....detached from the rest of the game. Well, they do to me at least.

Well, for starters the crew skills trainers are already together, with a cargo bay access terminal, mail and GTN. All within a few meters of each other. So in actual fact, the facilities are closer together on DK and Coruscant than they are on the fleet.

 

They could also "link" the two taxi points at each end of DK together (something they should do anyways in my opinion). And maybe even add another to Coruscant that is nearer to the Senate building, if required.

 

Also, DK and Coruscant have more area within the cities to cater for additional faclitites, trainers and other vendors than the fleet can (without putting them on different levels of course).

 

Lastly, the cities are good places to hold "events" too. Much better in my opinion than the fleets.

Agreed. Iirc the standard layout for the spaceport has additional elevator access areas which aren't always used on every planet (although one is used on Corellia's missions). Thus, the same hangar elevators at the capital city space ports can be used for access to the flashpoints and operations.

 

To me, the capital cities feel more "organic" to being social hubs than the fleet stations are.

In your downtime, do you really want to be on DK in order to hear "LFG - Personal Challenge" all the time? The fleet is a much better option.

 

If there's separate channels for the level ranges, it wouldn't be a problem.

 

Besides, it would add variety to the "LFG <insert instance here>" spam in chat channels.

If you played a Jedi on Coruscant, then you saw the temple. It has its own taxi and your storyline goes there.

Put them down on the groud for that too!!! world pvp is also needed!!!

 

I agree on all accounts. Of course, there should always be a decent amount of troops on the capital planets to discourage infiltration, but nevertheless, it should be possible even if it is difficult.

Right and well please not only get rid of the fleet but also allow players to directly recall to their space ship.

Now that you guys mention it, I'm all for making DS and Coruscant the main hubs instead of the Imp Fleet. Not saying to remove it, but lessen the importance a bit. As one person said the Fleet seems more like a bus-station than a hub. This way if BWEA wants to hold events they can freely do so. Merge a few shards together during these events and you can hold some nice events at these hubs. Star Wars concerts, festive visuals, or whatever they got in mind. I don't know what you guys have in mind, but it may help.

 

From all the time I spent on Kaas I could recommend places (better in person) within the urban areas to turn into player visited areas. The Cantinas also need Sabaac, Pazaak, and chess for the cantina to encourage socializing (points), and to improve activity. As for Flashpoint and Operations stuff? Pretty sure there can be places to place them on Kaas. Maybe lined up next to the cantina? The unique vendors and the like? Place them all in that building you pass over constantly to get to the Citadel. Closer? Place them in the next building over to the Cantina or instance them over at the Mail, auction, and storage area. I can even propose suggested areas for instanced player housing when Bioware cracks. There is of course room for improvement with what can be placed where. Bioware needs to ask and we can happily suggest :D.

 

As for Coruscant? You guys are the expert there. I'm still playing on my main Sith.

 

 

I highly recommend BW remove that one extra sequence with the ships. Instead of hopping us on the space station of that planet we should simply go down to the planet. My mind is in a mess trying to figure it out per planet. Needs to be more fluid (brings up JTLS). I know it might be a simple process but that extra step tends to confuse me all so slightly.
