Seems that when people talk about character customization, the entire topic goes through a selective filter and the only thing to get to the Developer's conscience is: moddable gear, hue to chest and hood toggles.

The most basic and fundamental thing, which is physical recustomization: things like a barbershop or do called plastic surgeon has not been addressed since I became aware of this game a week before pre launch.

In 2005 the character customization options we have now would have been considered enough, or adequate. In 2012 it is embarrassingly outdated. It is a testament to the quality of the overall game experience that I grind my teeth and keep leveling a character past level 20 whose appearance I no longer like.

But really, does it have to be that way? Now I have a Consular at 40 and another at 25 that I just refuse to play anymore since I can no longer stand to look at it.

We can deal with the anemic facial customization options if we could only refine the appearance over time. Get a tan, wash off the grime off the face, shave, change makeup.

Now we hear we'll be able to have a Sith Jedi and bounty hunters with force lightning. We also hear we can now wear the same orange pants we've had since level 20 since they are the only light armor pants available at lower social point requirement.

But about character facial recustomization: nothing. Not a peep. Over the months since launch everytime a developer has been asked about this they immediately funnel the topic to orange gear and hoods. Not once about cosmetic facial recustomization.

There was a brief sentence in a writeup from the summit addressing: more character customization. After talking paragraphs about absurd species faction combination possibilities and the expansion of orange gear.

Can we please get a word about thus topic and not get it mixed up again with the orange gear topics, please?

Completely agree, I loved the make-up i chose for my female trooper but I want something different. I usually play with helm hidden but have recently been playing with my helmet shown so I don't see my ugly make-up

Agree here... Made my trooper to look like a tanned dude, and in cutscenes it works, but in gameplay.. Well, he looks more like the episode of friends when Ross whitened his teeth.

I was lucky enough to get into beta and play with character creation so that I knew what I wanted at launch. But not everyone was that fortunate.

While I do want to be able to change my characters appearance, I don't think this will be happening "soon."

The dev's pushed the launch so that it would be in 2011 and not 2012, as a result there are a lot of bugs that need to be resolved before vanity options can be put in.

I do believe and want to believe that they will implement this one day, but asking them to do so just over 3 months after launch is a tall order.

ps. one of my toons does need a tan lol

She is complexion 20 and I've grown fond of 25.

On the topic of character appearence...

First...

I don't like how showing sith corruption starts with the eyes changing color and then eventually moves onto more subtle differences.

If you want to keep your characters initial eye color you need to hide corruption and lose out on the other aspects that you may find more desirable.

I think it would be better to have some sort of customization to the corruption display thats similar to the initial character creation.

When you hit dark side levels you could go to the dark side vendor and choose corruption options that you think look best on your character.

Second...

Replacing organic limbs with mechanical ones is a recurring theme in SW and is also shown on some prominent NPCs throughout the game.

Yet the best we get is choosing a cyborg starting race and getting a few facial add-ons that aren't even very appearent outside of conversations.

I feel that replacement limbs should be craftable, contain mods and be able to be equipped by any character.

In order to keep a player with a certain crafting skill from making all their own and getting a sort of unfair advantage, the devs could require components from across all the crafting skills to assemble your new limb...
