BioWare, I'd be happy just changing the dialogue for SGRA

Q: Any updates on same gender romance?

A: its coming with story updates sometime this year. It wil depend on our writers. When we do this, we don’t want just change the dialogue to the other gender. We want new romance arcs etc. Its coming when full story comes. which is this year.

New romance arcs are great and all but I've got to be honest BioWare, I'm perfectly happy if you just tweak the dialogue to reference the other gender for romanceable companions and quest npcs. In fact I'd actually prefer that then having to wait for some new companions I might not even like to come along and be romanceable.

I'd been avoiding getting affection with certain companions just so I could romance them in the future but it looks like that's not going to happen. If you don't want to change the dialogue for current companions then at the very least you can do it for quest NPCs. Otherwise I think I'm probably going to leave the game once I've finished leveling up my Consular. I love the game mainly for its story and quests but if I'm not going to be given complete access to the story and quests and not be able to play the character I want to play based on a right wing decision by the devs in BioWare US of A then I just don't see any reason in staying.

Well at least they won't ruin the current characters. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it worked for characters that were designed with that in mind(Zevran comes to mind...) but it doesn't work if Arric Jorgan suddenly starts coming on to my trooper because of an update and a high affection score. I don't mind the gayness particularly just leave it out of my already established characters. Leaving because of that, especially considering the romance part shouldn't be a focus is very freaky by the way.

I fully support SGRA and feel its exclusion was a stupid oversight. But ascribing political motivations ("right wing") to this isn't quite fair.

Most likely, this is a resource issue and nothing else, because the bottom line is: folks who want SGRA are in the minority. The needs of small groups of players are never a priority in mass market media, including game development.

The whole concept of SWTOR is based around story so there is no way they could just have the same story options and now open them up to same gender. Don't you understand? The game is all about the story, and romance, even same gender romance, is quite possibly among the best selling story(s) of all time. To prove that just go to a bookstand near you and look at the number or romance novels there is available compared to the rest....
