Zombull
I'm liking what I hear in the guild summit feeds, but the devs deafness to our requests to have surname freedom is extremely frustrating. All this talk about family trees and that's great, but what about characters that aren't related? How the heck am I supposed to put a Twi'lek and a Zabrak and a Miraluka and a Sith all into the same family tree? How the heck are they supposed to have the same surname? Just separate surname from Legacy completely. Let Legacy name continue to exist as <The Whatever Legacy> and we can choose to display it or not and let us then freely choose surnames for our characters without regard for uniqueness. Why is BioWare ignoring the community on this?
Rahl_Windsong
Bascially Daniel just said. "you have to option now to turn off the legacy name on any character" does that answer your question?
Zombull
Bascially Daniel just said. "you have to option now to turn off the legacy name on any character" does that answer your question? No of course not. Here are my characters. Unique character name is in bold. Boltar "Bull" Brand Jadan Collier Colton Brand Cyrol Dule Rak Tenslo aka "Racket" Solista Solaar, codename "Silhouette" Raylan Tasker Tsark Bull and Colton are brothers. That is the only relationship between two characters. Why should 6 of my 8 characters not be allowed to have their full name? In a game with such a big emphasis on RP as this, we really need to be able to name our characters freely.
Tokri
No. He is asking for surnames to be 'per character' instead of just one common legacy name that can be turned on or off. Like the OP, I also have characters of many races. Half are Imperials, half are Republic. None are related in any way so it's out of character that they should all be related by the legacy surname. Does ANYONE have all their characters as mom, dad, brother, sister, uncle/aunt, etc. of one family? I also think each character should have first names, last names, and the optional legacy name/title.

Harleyz
Sounds like its tearing you up inside. Bioware ignore 99% of the community since beta. Edited March 6, 2012 by Harleyz
Xerihae
Does ANYONE have all their characters as mom, dad, brother, sister, uncle/aunt, etc. of one family? I also think each character should have first names, last names, and the optional legacy name/title. Me. Niara, Riara and Miara are triplets. Daevian and Dharrin are cousins to the triplets, and also brothers to each other, though Dharrin was "lost"... I won't go into it here. Basically I created my characters within the limited framework I knew was going to be available with BW's Legacy system. Unfortunately, to make RP sense that has limited them to all being the same race. It also makes no sense to make one the parent/child of another... at least not to me. Each class story is supposed to take place at the same time, so the Jedi Consular mother of a Jedi Knight character both take the Trials at the same time? I don't think so... Then again, if you're roleplaying in SWTOR you need to completely ignore the story anyway. I fully support having Legacy name separate from Surname though.
