Tricky-Ha
I guess alot of people thought that was fair, that we should be forced to re-create & re-level the current alt characters we've already been playing, if we want to take advantage of April new Legacy unlocks for new species. So how many of you now have to re-create & re-level new alt characters that you had originally planned to be another species than the one you originally picked for them? Time is time, right? Gametime more indubitably so?
Ushela
did you think that BW was just gonna let you "rebirth" the toons you already created? LOL
cbowsin
My alts are lvl 10ish, they are basically name holders. I saw no point in leveling an alt until the Legacy stuff was put in.
WonderLlama-Con
The "new" species are not "new". They are basically letting you unlock races and species that are unavailable for some classes. For example, letting you make a Sith Pureblood Jedi Knight, or a Mirialan Bounty Hunter. "NEW" races will not be added until a later date.
Roechacca
I don't have an Alt yet.
Qonor
I don't have an Alt yet. ^ And I guess the fun people have had up until this point with their alts is of no value...
Tricky-Ha
I don't have an Alt yet. I figured this kind of thing would happen, considering BioWare has no experience with MMO's, so I hardly have any alt characters either. A couple of level 10 characters, just disposables for when I wanted to kill to some time. I seriously did not want to REPEAT any class story. I had played a Smuggler in beta & I spaced most of that story & then I've been holding off on creating a new Smuggler character for this whole 3 months after launch, & I really wanted to play the Smuggler class. I can't imagine the anger & wrath of players that have already filled up their 8 character per server maximum & now have to delete those alt characters & re-create & re-play their class stories again & again & again. Not cool, BioWare...Legacy is not fair for your current playerbase post April 2012. Edited March 5, 2012 by Tricky-Ha
Niddhog
Not cool, BioWare...Legacy is not fair for your current playerbase post April 2012. WHY COULD WE GRIND OUT EXPERIENCE FROM LAUNCH FOR A FEATURE THAT WOULDN'T BE IN THE GAME FOR MONTHS!? >( Also, I'm in the same boat of constantly holding off on alts (Chiss scoundrel!, and pureblood JK sounds boss... Rattataki trooper?)
Tricky-Ha
WHY COULD WE GRIND OUT EXPERIENCE FROM LAUNCH FOR A FEATURE THAT WOULDN'T BE IN THE GAME FOR MONTHS!? >( Also, I'm in the same boat of constantly holding off on alts (Chiss scoundrel!, and pureblood JK sounds boss... Rattataki trooper?) I'll be getting some of that Legacy xp in the next 10 days until my sub on 2-month gamecard runs out. Then I guess once patch 1.2 goes live I'll re-up my sub & figure out what to do with this Legacy mess & get to creating a cyborg- Sith Warr, oh I can do that, hmm a cyborg Smuggler, oh I can do that too, cyborg Trooper, well damn I already have one of those. Did I level to 50 anything besides a cyborg?
Tricky-Ha
did you think that BW was just gonna let you "rebirth" the toons you already created? LOL Yeah, I did actually since it's their fault that so many of us have all these alt characters that we're going to have to delete & re-create just to use the Legacy unlocks. Legacy should have been prioritised with a Barbershop feature so we can re-create alts in an ingame shop/vendor.
KahnyaGnorc
I only worked on characters who I knew would be the species/class combination I wanted because of the legacy races. Although, to be fair, the only one I really wanted was a Twi'lek Trooper (fits the mold of my "Ghaeleah" named warrior-type better than a Knight). Tricky-Ha
Not a single player will be forced to recreate a character when legacy comes out. Some may choose to, but none will be forced to. Oh, I forgot, my bad. Rolling & re-rolling alts is intended & encouraged way to play SWTOR, if not doing it, doing it wrong? No one force anyone to play many characters, we're supposed to just want to do it because because, even when Legacy system is not implemented in game? There's still time to get BioWare to change their mind, to have them give us some feature similar to a barbershop so we can re-create our current alts. Stryges
Not a single player will be forced to recreate a character when legacy comes out. Some may choose to, but none will be forced to. You are absolutely correct. No one is forced to do this. Actually, no one is forced to do anything. It is a game after all, that we choose to play. However, since Bioware has decided to go this route with the legacy changes, some people, in order to play the way they want, will have to choose to re-roll and repeat content. Actually, Bioware wants you to repeat as much content as you can, so they do not have to add more innovative content and say that you, as a player, just haven't tried hard enough to find more content. I don't have to reroll anything, since I was holding rolling an alt until legacy changes were in. And guess what, I rolled a human smuggler. As far as species choices on new character and I get ABSOLUTELY NO BENEFIT.
iceperson
No one force anyone to play many characters, we're supposed to just want to do it because because, even when Legacy system is not implemented in game? I have no idea what this even means. If you're not playing a character you enjoy then why exactly are you playing? How does the color of your character change your gameplay in any way at all? If you just absolutely feel the need to delete a character to change the race then that's really saying more about you than BW, and I fail to see how it's their problem. Now, if they were to add a breast slider to char creation without giving players a chance to change that without rerolling you could probably get me on board for a boycott... j/k
