Sniper PvE gear

The extra cunning given by the enforcer pieces far out weighs the mediocre set bonuses given by the field tech set. Though the only time I'm not sure this is true is for pure MM in which case take down with the four set bonus becomes your highest DPE ability.

i asked this very same question when i got my first piece of raid loot gear . i immediatley elimated the healing set, that left two others. I too saw the extra cunning \and the energy and was leaning towards that and asked on the server which i should chooose.

i was given a wide range of smart *** answers. one was what ever has orbital strike in the set bonus. I was like there isnt one with orbital strike . I found out later it was a pvp bonus and i clearly said pve columi whan i asked.

I am a mm and i chose the field tech. But i agree the bonuses to loss of cunning make me wonder and question it my self.

Im pretty sure that Bioware expects people to play around with the mods in the gear. Get the Field Tech gear and then replace the mods with the higher cunning if that is what you would like.

I have full Rakata and have been buying the Columni gloves to yank the power/surge mods out of the gear to replace the power/accuracy that comes in the Rakata.

you cant. The higher cunning is on the armoring mod - the Field Tech uses Patron Armoring (which is more balanced end/cunning) and the Enforcer set uses Skill armoring (higher cunning/lower end).

Even in 1.2 - the armoring will carry the set bonus with it, so you will never be able to get field tech + skill armoring.

I think everyone has been saying and Bioware now knows that they did a bad job of the stat itemization and they announced that they will be releasing a new set of PvE and PvP gear with 1.2. Hopefully they do a better job with it.

It depends on which piece you are looking at.

(columni)

they arent all the same, tech boots, shirt have a base of 57 cunning/41 end

Enforcer Boots/Head/Pants/Shirt=210 cunning

Tech Boots/Head/Pants/Shirt = 213 cunning

That is naked armor w/no mods/enh cuz those dont count since you can swap them to whatever you want. I dont have the hands calculations offhand since i was just looking for which piece to swap out of my columni and i have rakata gloves.

so i wear 4pc field tech + enforcer headpiece (biggest boost to cunning over the tech)

I'm using the Field Tech set. No specific reason. But since the nerf to crit/surge the +power on rakata seems to be nice because you get to a point where crit/surge benefit less and less.

But to answer the real question at hand, I use the field tech because even as small a benefit our set bonus is, its still a bonus.

The question really is, does the +cunning on Enforcer gear out weight the set bonuses of Field Tech? This is something I'd like to find out.
