Legendoom
Hey all, I've been messing around on my light side Jedi Knight, and I noticed a couple odd things about the lightsaber sound of some of the early commendation-bought lightsabers. The ignition sound is wrong, it has kind of an unpleasant, mechanical tone to it, and it really bugs me. The only two I've noticed with this sound defect is the Fusion-Core Lightsaber and the Virtuous Strategist Lightsaber, but I'm sure there are more out there. Has anyone else noticed this? Whether it's a bug or not, the sound it off and it's quite irritating.

It was noticeable when the two lightsabers I was using had different ignition sounds. It's likely to not be a sound defect but an intended sound. Caelrie
It's definitely wrong. It's way too "techy".
Polebreaker
There are several different saber ignition/shutdown sounds. Find an orange one you like, with the looks you like, and use it forever!
Wraiven
There are several lightsabers that are completely wrong, because Bioware decided to take it upon themselves to create their own Lightsaber activations, hum, and even blaster sound effects. Bioware's generated sound effects for the weapons are horrid, and they should have left those well enough alone. But no, it's another way to get us to spend millions of credits on several character to attempt the futile attempt of finding that "movie" sound effect giving lightsaber/blaster. It's a money sink. How do I know this? Because it's almost impossible to find the right combination of activation and sound effects. They even use different sound effects for when you swing a lightsaber, although nowhere near as noticeable. It's more of a vibrant swing compared to a dull swing. Star Wars Sound effects and music should never been tampered with IMO, but whatever. You sure as hell can't stop them. They're boss. Oh, and to the OP, welcome back. At least it was around launch when I last remember paying much attention to it.

Alec_Fortescue
Most Jedi lightsabers have awful, "squeeling" lightsaber sounds. I know hilts matters to people who care about apperance (like me...) but I played with the starting lightsaber for the whole game - it's not that bad in looks but the sound it makes is proper. Also.. Jedi Knight's lightsaber combat is too quiet - when you player warrior you hear lightsaber clashing and all... Jedi is so silent.

Glad somebody else other than me has noticed all of what you have said. You would not believe how many people I have talked to who seem to have no clue. It's almost like it all sounds the same to them and they don't notice the differences.
Alec_Fortescue
Yeah, i was told to put volume up, too... Seriously. When you play a warrior you actually hear proper lightsaber combat sounds. It's just so "juicy". There are all the sounds you'd expect from a Star Wars game... When Jedi fights with his lightsaber it just sizzles.

Not bad in look ? It depends of which starting weapon you talk about... starting classic lightsabers have a terrible look for me, but I think the shadow's double-bladed lightsaber look very nice. Also.. Jedi Knight's lightsaber combat is too quiet - when you player warrior you hear lightsaber clashing and all... Jedi is so silent. I think it's normal and well done. Sith Warriors have a brutal way of using their lightsaber so clashing sounds fits well, and Jedi Knights have a more technical and smooth style, so blade sounds reflect that as well. Watch the movies, there is no difference in sounds when a Jedi uses his or a Sith uses theirs. Which I am glad they do not. When I stab somebody with my lightsaber as a Sith, I hear (or did until this last patch bugged it out) a sound as if my Lightsaber just pierced armor. When I stab with my Jedi, it's dead silence...makes no sense and losses it's immersion. Dull.
