MuNieK
People shoudlnt ever be pressed on some dialogue choice thinking about itemisation of their characters. It defeats the puspose of having different dialogue options and aligment itself... You cant give people choice: a) aim for dark side lvl 5 b) aim for light side lvl 5 giving them 3rd choice: c) aim for neutral bah even by giving them 10(?) options for each of the aligment levels is not how it should work all of that wont change much... it will still be the aim for x lvl, and dont get personal and immersive with yoru character choices - just look at the simbols of the aligments. Let people be unique not by having exclusive aligment unlocked gear, but by having exclusive aligment unlocked dialogue options. That would reward everyone - dark siders with unique dark side option, neutrals with unique neutral option and light siders with unique light side option - all those unique options would not be available for players on other aligment levels. Of course it cannot be done to current content due to voice acting effort, BUT it could be employed as a mechanic while devs would be creating new content for the game. So in future aligment woudlnt matter for itemisation over 50 lvl, but would matter for the story and immersion as it should be. The unique dialogue options could be entierely different lines and choices granting entirely different story spin, but they could also be money-saving (for developer) same lines said with different words or even with just a different tone. I would like to invite you to the discussion - so the idea would not miss devs' eye. Edited March 3, 2012 by MuNieK
flyersfan
The best way to change this would be to just add some items that are similar to ones that are alignment-locked but require no alignment. That way they can be used by Light Side players, Dark Side players, and the ones that choose the bi-polar/"neutral" path for whatever reason. Yeah, that would solve the problem, but also take away the meaning of aligment completely. To solve the problem without removing the meaning of aligment is to make aligment reward people with immersion-wise rewards: like exclusive dialogue options.
