Force Wave and Project

So is anyone else bothered by Force Waves animation? Like Project is screems look at what is coming! More and more I notice people move to avoid my knockback. Obviously they got a animation to know it is coming. I also have had issues with other people using a pushback that while also instant. It is faster then mine and knocks me of the ledge and I still get to do mine just in the air. Putting it on CD and it did nothing.

 

I casted it first. If it is so instant why is it not counted before other knockbacks? I love my Sage I am just getting so damn tired of having skills that are not on demand.

 

If I push to knock back I want it to go off then. I use Project I want that person hit. Yes even if they vanish. I hit it while I could see them. I have been hit with Tracer Missles on my Shadow after going into stealth. Many times infact.

 

Seems to me that while we have the tools and the tools are nice. We still got the raw end of the deal. Instant just is not instant for us and those two skills.

I know what you mean by Force Wave not activating properly after being hit by a knockback, but I haven't had any problems with Project. Every time I use it and someone moves out of sight, it keeps the animation going and hits them. Occasionally I don't see the numbers but I do see the health bar move.

But the issue is it still hitting the player after they vanish. I often see my projection item just float in the air and not go after the target.

If you want ability's that work like BW intended, go play Empire.

 

Sad but true.

 

Hopefully Zoellers post in the last Q&A indicates that the rep side of the BW team has figured out how to find its butt with both hands and can now begin to provide something akin to the actual mirrors we are supposed to have...

Believe me it would be nice. I just will not hold my breath. I don't expect to see any changes for atleast a few more months.

 

I believe they will need to first figure out if the Sorc needs to be nerfed. If just the hybrid spec needs to be made so it can no longer be done or if DPS is just too high. Then only after they get the Sorc fixed will they attempt to match the Sage back up to the mirror it was supposed to be the first time.

Nah, I will be amazed if they screw with Shock. First off, you will have an insurrection over on the Sith side, needlessly. Second, its not just inq/consular balance...you start to talk about balance between all the classes, where instant no longer means instant...in other words you would have to start screwing with other ranged classes skills, and start inserting delays all over the place. That is insane.

 

Fix the one stupid broken skill by getting rid of one of the worst animations in the game. It fails the lore test..jedi arent junk throwers....it fails the mechanics test...it isnt instant, and it destroys believability by magically yanking up magic junk everywhere...and finally, it fails the mirror test.

 

Flunk the ***** and lets move on. Besides, Zoeller said the animation team was working on NEW animations. I doubt they would redo shock and project, when simply redoing project fixes the issue.

For me luckily I haven't had those problems with Project. But since u seem to have these problems u should post this problem with the Customer Service Forum. Maybe a lot more ppl are haveing ur problem, but haven't said anything.

 

Hell I get a huge /bug when i get kicked off my Server saying my server is not on the list to that effect and I should report it because I know other have to be haveing the same problems.

 

But Yeah ur Force Project should be able to hit the intended target u selected or the game decided to have u fight. Even when they're behind something. I think Project has only had a problem only a few times, and I mean few times.

You do also realize that the Sorc lightning being instant allows for no healing but the target of the Project can have 3 seconds to recieve a heal. That heal can allow target to live. The Sorc target died.

 

So again this is more about the fact that INSTANT really doesn't mean INSTANT when we look at both Force Wave and Project for a Sage.

This. Happened to me several times. I HATE IT. And I dont understand why bw did nothing to fix it.

Don't forget that if you die right after the animation of force wave starts it wont hit either.

 

 

Yes another good point. You hit it. It is a instant yet you died. The effect should still happen since it was set in motion when you are alive. Yet it does nothing if you die mid jump of the animation for what should be a instant ability.

 

Look the Sage is going to use Force Wave! What should we do?

 

A) You take the 2 seconds to possition yourself so that the knock back does nothing.

 

B) You use your own knock back that is instant and works as a instant and knock back the Consular first.

 

C) You just get off a big nuke and kill the Consular before it hits the ground.

 

All three should not be possible if Force Wave was infact INSTANT!!!

You know I was wondering how much of this might be the result of other players using a lag switch. If you don't know what it is. Look it up. It might explain some of the issues with these two skills. Not all of them.

 

Oh and if you did look up lag switch you know what to look for. Report these people!

This happens in PvE as well, has nothing to do with lag. Lag does exacerbate the problem, especially positioning. There are a slew of abilities that suffer from this issue, like Kolto Bomb, Trooper/BH stun, parry. It affects pretty much any skill with travel time animation or long character animation.

 

If I had a nickle for every time on my BH where I stunned someone on a fire pit only to see the missle get to them after they've passed it.

I'm not a fan of force wave's delay, but am pretty sure the mirror ability has the same delay.

 

I like projects delay, it makes it a lot easier to set up burst. Project -> another hard hitting ability and they both hit at the same time. You're doing it wrong if you're using project in a time sensitive manner. Use force slow to interrupt caps and set up your burst better on healers.

 

As for the whole they vanished thing, I'm pretty sure I've had project hit people after they vanished and gotten a message saying I've killed so and so. I could be mistaken though.

 

Animations are changing at some point so project and shock will have the same delay (or lack thereof). I'm not particularly happy about it, but hopefully it'll cut down on some of the whining.

No. Another hard hitting ability -> Shock. The two hit at the ACTUAL same time. It also doesn't matter what the cast time of the other ability is or if you have cast pushback during the other ability. They hit at the same time. Not at maybe somewhere around the same time that you have with the psuedo-burst of project.
