Still asking for proof that ANYONE can run 60+ fps in a big ilum battle, but thanks for trying

Why don't you just go play Rift or WoW or something. Yes I am sure the whole forum community owes you proof of decent PVP FPS.

I find it telling that those who claim they have good fps, have not posted one video where they prove it. If they do post a video, they never have an the indicator up that shows the fps. I believe that is done so that the argument can remain in the realm of subjectivity, instead of interjecting actual data that would allow for objective assessments of their fps to be made.

I have posted a video fellow swtorian in the name of good fps. The video is on the last page. Notice how smooth the gameplay is as I engage in the finest of ilum pvp battle swtor has to offer!

I find it funny that only a handful of people posted videos in Ilum of poor FPS. I demand all people that are subscribed to TOR to post videos of their incursions in Ilum now!

Go on, I am waiting.

Except there are numerous videos on Youtube and it has been noted to be an issue by major publishers. The biggest complaint GameInformer had in the March 2012 issue for SWTOR was how terrible it ran.

My point is not one Ilum pvp video was posted, with the fps indicator displayed, to counter the engine complaints. I have seen at least 3 Ilum pvp videos showing people with poor fps while having high powered systems. I have seen 1 posted as a counter, but it seemed the person who posted it could not visually see the lag I saw while watching it. Also, the person did not have the fps indicator going and so there is no way to objectively prove his point.

All it would take is one video, with the fps indicator displayed, while fighting a 10 X 10 or larger battle to prove that the problem is with the complainers' systems. Just one video with objective proof countering the OP's claim (fps indicator displayed).

All im asking for is PROOF that you people saying "oh well i dont have any performance issues, get better hardware" I want you to go to Ilum and make a video of a 20v20 fight and make sure you have ur FPS showing, I guarantee NOT one person can run over 60 FPS, NOT one. This engine that BW is running DOES need work, stop blaming performance issues on there hardware.

I only made this thread because someone made a post about how BWs engine needs work, and everyone flamed the guy saying "they have no problems and the OP needs to fix his hardware

Again I want to see a reply with a 10v10 or more Ilum battle with 60+ FPS...... Prove us wrong..

TheJestersHat: What is BioWare planning to do about performance issues that people get with Warzone, open world PVP, and general FPS issues?

Damion Schubert: We have an internal strike team that is fully devoted to ensuring that the game runs better and faster, especially on low end machines, and we consider this team's work to be a crucial internal initiative. You should see evidence of this work as soon as Patch 1.1.5, when we will be introducing a new 'very low' setting to shader quality, which should drastically increase the number of mid-to-low machines the game can run well on, especially in Warzones and Operations.

We do NOT need a new lower performance tab. We need BW to fix there engine.

The other day on the server I'm on we had a few 16v12 or so skirmishes in Ilum, at Central. The frame rate wen't below 60, generally hovering around 30-50 for me, but what the real kicker was that every second or so there would be a split second pause in the action during the fight. I can live with lower fps, but inconsistant fps ruins it. The difference between low and high on my setup is nil. I play in fullscreen windowed mode.

Before people say it's my computer, here are my specs.

Intel i7 3930k @ 4.3Ghz (6 core, 12 thread CPU)

ASUS Rampage IV Extreme X79 Motherboard

16GB RAM

2 x GeForce GTX 470's in SLI (until next gen GeForce cards get released later in the year)

2 x Corsair Force GT SSD's in Raid 0

Etc.

The CPU usage with this game is minimal. Total cpu usage barely break 5-10%, even then it's usually one of the twelve threads taking a walk on the 20% wild side.

I know the game doesn't support SLI, but the total usage over both cards is usually between 50-70%, each card hovering within that range.

Warzones are fine for me though. 60fps+ everywhere, with the odd drop below 60fps with hectic pvp going on, with the lowest I've noticed being mid to high 30's. Haven't noticed any split second pauses every second or so, like I experienced in Ilum.

Why are people flaming the OP?

This is a known fact. The engine is broken and any large scale encounters run like crap regardless of your PC specs.

Probably because OP's posts have been aggressive and inflammatory. Or at least the first few. They went on my ignore list fairly fast so I have no idea what they have posted really past the first page.

No one huh?

Once I found an objective opinion on the matter from a gaming review source that raved about SWTOR on more than one occasion but still mentioned this issue...I knew it wasn't just the users hardware.

When a professional and respected company that reviews games by playing them with top-notch hardware...AND...still loves your game (SWTOR) and gave it high marks says that there is an issue with FPS on EA/Biowares end...it's note worthy.

I also put it in my signature.

I stand corrected. Just to prove your point further....

Bioware, you need to either fix this by upgrading your servers or putting a cap on the Ilum zone. This video is over a month old and people are still having this issue....

I don't think it's a hardware problem on their end.

This issue is most definitely caused by the players. All TOR players need to ensure there are never more than three other players in view. Taking these simple steps eliminates all the FPS problems. What kind of player expects to have more then 10 players visible on the screen? Do people think this game is kind of MMO or something?

I have not had any serious fps issues (other than with a new keyboard that I finally traced to a shortcut on a prntscrn button!) but I have also not hit level 50 and not played Ilum.

I have played with 20-30 other players on screen but this was a rare one-off event and I have no proof. It was in Nar Shadar cantina not a wide open area and they where standing around talking - not blasting AOE and lightning everywhere.

Besides which that isn't the point of this thread. I am still eagerly awaiting that single video post showing Ilum PVP in all it's glory at a decent playable frame rate - and I exclude the one shown earlier of the guy hiding the corner by himself!

Until then I believe this game is heavy on hardware for what it is.

No actual FPS meter, but it runs smooth and that's WITH fraps which will tax your machine harder guaranteed. Alot of vids are also showing ~10 fps because that's what Fraps was recording at (which locks it into that max).

I don't think anyone really disputes the fact that there are issues, but the blanket remarks about 'engine is crap' and such without any technical insight in how such a thing works is silly (and will get you scorn from people who are more literate in that area).

Trying to keep an objective viewpoint, as a part interested in the longevity of SWTOR I'm sure BW are working on improving any bottlenecks there are and improving framerates across the board. We can rehash all the 'I've spent 5k on a rig and it's slow on 20v20 ilum' but it's no point.

Ilum pvp is probably the one area of consistent issue, but even there not for ALL (though it seems a majority). That could be the environment as other areas happily support more than 40 people on screen moving and interacting. If you're having major issues OUTSIDE that area I suggest you check some of the tips through the link in my sig. You should not be having those issues.

Anyway, go on complaining in thread #32455623. These threads seem to permeate any MMO, I'd be more worried if they didn't exist :(

Why would anyone even want to run over 60 fps? All that extra strain on your hardware for a number.

Hearing someone brag about how much FPS they are running a game at is like bragging about how you don't know anything about computers.

That's why I put my vsync to on. No reason to strain hardware to attain an fps that is physically impossible to notice with the naked eye.

So your proof to the OP is a video that doesn't show the FPS? Hu....

I will say that system was handling that situation fairly well, maybe around 30 fps. Though in the first couple of minutes there were still several video hangs that were more than obvious.

You need over 60FPS for it to be considered "performing well"?

Interesting...
