Drewhat
So many people have complained about the convenience of GTN hubs everywhere. Here is a solution to remedy that. Somewhere on each planet put two 'Underworld Cantina' entrances. These could be put under a mountain, instanced in a 'gate' right in the starport, or literally underground so that little above ground artwork would be necessary. It would consist of 3 rooms layout diagram: >]AAAAAAA[]BBBB[]CCCCCCC[< Room A/C: Republic/Empire Entrance Hallway/tunnel. This hall would be full (5-6) of neutral level 30-35 (yellow) NPC local 'underground agents'. It would also have 3-4 incognito green republic/empire faction NPCs, (Healer, detector, and 2 incognito jedi/sith types). The hall would be a PVP flag zone that is exactly as long as it needs to be so that a person couldn't just run through it and not be pvp flagged. You couldn't mount either. Room B: The Cantina. This would have 5-6 more neutral 'underground agents' that could be subject to an AoE aggro. This would be a non PVP safe area. But in reality many people would be running in flagged until they stay out of combat for 5 minutes. So you could very likely get a sort of 'brawl' effect going back and forth The effect here would be that there is a risk for getting into the Underworld GTN. You could run in hop on the GTN and get off easily if nobody is around, but if there are a few players of either faction there could be some tension in the air until your flag disappears. The healer back in your entrance hallway would provide a little bit of a relief/retreat if you get caught unaware and maybe a buff or two in the hallway could help a side that gets pushed back there to regroup and counter-attack. Im not sure if it would be better for this to be connected to the Nar-Shadda Neutral network or a hub like the one that is on tatooine with terminals for faction GTNs. I think this mechanic would be an extremely thrilling alternative to always going back to the fleet for trading. Also having 2 trade networks creates more room for 'opportunity cost' profit. Also, this would give the scoundrel/operative an interesting utility as it could sneak in and stealth until discovered or until its pvp flag timer cools. AstralProjection
It's an interesting idea. i would check it out. I would like to see more "cantinas" and spots where players can get together and socialize anyway. Adding in a PVP element would make it interesting, though something tells me a lot of people would just go to Nar Shaddaa and avoid the conflict. I wouldn't even be averse to your idea without the PVP. Just a few more shady locales where both factions can socialize with each other and buy some illicit gear on the GTN. Drewhat
I think it would just depend on how culturally it would work out and the mechanics of how it is programmed. There could even be a mechanic declared where if a fight has lasted over two minutes there is a 'brawl' declared during which everyone inside is flagged pvp and is buffed with a 1 minute +10% speed/+10% damage but also has a cooldown after which the local underworld pulls their switch which gases the entire area if anyone is still in combat. The effect would send everyone back outside their respective entrance and all combat would cease.
