To many useless abilities

I'll let you guys run with this, but at least wanted to get the discussion going. I'm sure there are plenty of threads out there regarding this, but I love adding fuel to fire.

 

So the title says it all, there are way to many abilities, especially for the Knight/Warrior classes. Consulars and Inquisitor dot mangement is just plain stupid, it would be nice if one of our abilities reset the duration on at least one of them. I can't really comment on Smuggler/Agent and Trooper/Bounty Hunter since I've no desire to play them.

I disagree. None of my characters has more than 3 abilities that they simply do not use (or do not use often enough to warrant attention), and typically those are base class abilities that are more keyed towards the opposite AC, so they're still useful - just not for the AC I chose. Most oc my characters only has 1 ability tops that I really dont use at all.

 

As far as DoT management... what've you got as a sorceror? Two dots? Three if you go full madness? My engineer specced sniper has five DoT or DoT-like abilities that I have to keep rolling, and I've got to deal with degenerative energy regeneration, not something you have to pay attention to as a sorceror. I dont think your complaining here is really warranted.

I've not seen a glut of unneeded skills.

 

Looking from the sniper perspective, headshot and eviscerate are largely glut. They're basically the same power (one melee, one range) only useful on normal/strong mobs and require the mob to be CC'd. Since they share cooldowns, you could easily drop one and never notice.

 

The only other useless skill is overload shot simply b/c it's way to expensive for what it does (poor damage for huge energy cost). And saying it's useless is really focused on end game for a sniper. Before choosing your AC it's a staple power that falls by the wayside and IIRC it is also a staple for Operatives as well.
