Sosajoshua
*** First I just want to say a few things. 1) This is how I play. Everyone plays differently so you do not have to use or like my play style. 2) I run a 0/13/28 Hybrid DPS almost identical to the usual with (will explain later). 3) If you have your own suggestions please comment:D About Okay so I just feel like giving everyone in our happy community a guide of sorts for each current warzone. I will give detailed styles of play when I play each as well as medals I normally win in each. Abilities This is my basic set of ability positions becuase it is comfortable to me. As long as you have these whether in top or bottom you should be fine. Top Level 1)ForceStorm 2)Crushing Darkness 3)Electrocute 4)ForceLightning 5)Overload 6)Affliction 7)ForceSlow 8)Dark Infusion 9)Static Barrier Lower Level -DeathField -UnbreakableWill -Extrication -Whirlwind -Recklessness -ChainLightning -Channel the Force -Jolt -ForceSpeed -Huttball Pass Huttball Ball Support/Killer So ball support with a Hybrid DPS? Basically ball support means clearing the road. While someone else on your team is running the ball to the opponents' side, you are either overloading enemies out the way or attacking defenders. For the most part you should be fairly safe as you will probably be with a group of allies who are helping the ball runner. If you want to help out by going solo you can go ahead of the ball runner and try picking off enemies who are attacking you allies in force. If you see a large group fighting for the ball drop a ForceStorm and then Deathfield to do massive damage and kill a few guys. Another cool thing about going solo is you can use Extrication to pull your ball runner to where you are and have them be close to the goal line. No "killer" deals with when the enemy team has the ball. Your goal here is to stun the ball runner from afar, plant some DoTs, and let you allies take care of the rest. Another KEY task as a "killer" is to eliminate healer specs (mainly Sages and Scoundrels). Healers will cause a constant annoyance healing the ball runner, however they almost never pay much attention to themselves and can easily be overpowered. Jolt, ForceSlow, WhirlWind, and Affliction are your best friends when taking out a healer....trust and believe. Still probably the best part about "killer" is precisely that...you just kill you enemies. Believe it or not killing one enemy who isn't even near the ball runner helps as it lowers the enemy reinforcement. Probably the best positioning for either support/killer is at the second level of the ramps. From here not only can you use ForceStorm/DeathField against crowds and large groups but you also have a great spot to take down solo enemies trying to do the same. Avg. Medals Quick Draw Medal- score killing blow Soldier Medal- 10kills Assassin Medal- win a 1v1 Commando Medal- 25kills Combatant Medal- deal 75K damage Medic Medal- heals for 2.5k hp *Demolisher Medal- deal 2.5k dmg in one hit *Defender Medal- earn 1k defense pt * = not usual but have occurred Alderaan Civil War Capture&Defend This one is pretty self-explanitory. Go with a group and capture any of the turrets (generally for Imperials Left and Middle). For the left side its a very simple positioning that is done: capture turret, hide next to stairs. When doing this you should make sure to be able to clearly see the turret computer to make sure no one is attempting to reprogram it (if you are alone at the turret). Make sure to keep your static barrier up at all times. Once you see someone try to reprogram the computer (or you are attacked from behind) call for help if you are guarding the turret alone and try to kill the enemy ASAP. The reason for calling for help is because generally where there is one enemy, there is a group waiting to swarm a turret. Just standing next to any one of your turrets for a certain amount of time will earn you defender medals. But say you do not want to solely watch and wait...head over to the middle turret which is almost always a battleground. Again static barrier is always to be up and when you get there go to 1 of these 2 spots: top left area or bottom right area. At top left you have a general view of most of the middle turret area. This allows you to attack reps who are on the sidelines (ranged classes mainly) or drop large scale attacks at a crowd fighting for turret computer. Being on top-left also lets check up on the left turret and see if its being attacked so you can help out. Now bottom-right is a bit more risky but it has its defensive/offensive perks too. From bottom-right you can go close to where the reps will come to attack and stun them or CC them as they run by, allowing your teammates to attack them. Also, since you are close to the action, DoTs and ForceLightning become second nature as you assist your teammates from afar take down enemies at low health. Another interesting thing to note is that from either location you can use DarkInfusion to support your teammates through healers IF NEED BE. For the most part your Healers will handle that but if you want to get an easy medal or just help out a friend DI only takes a few seconds that if you are not noticed you can easily spare. **You can also be an offensive player capturing or attacking turrets but generally from my POV you are doing the same thing as I stated above. Avg. Medals Quick Draw Medal- score killing blow Soldier Medal- 10kills Assassin Medal- win a 1v1 Combatant Medal- deal 75K damage Medic Medal- heals for 2.5k hp Defender Medal- earn 1k defense pts Warden Medal- earn 3k defense pts *Commando Medal- 25kills VoidStar Attacker So as Voidstar goes you get to be both an attacker and defender. Since we automatically get to different objectives throughout the WZ I'm just telling you how I do things. Anyways....you are attacker. You must go plant the bomb and blah blah blah yeah you know. Static Barrier and UnbreakableWill are your best friends right here. The reps defending will stun/CC you then rush to kill you before more of your allies come. So what nddo you do? You go along with the rest of your group to swarm one side of the each section. If you are the first one at the door plant the bomb as soon as possible...same goes for extending the bridge is section 2 and deactivating shields in section 3. As the attacker either plant the bomb or protect the guy planting the bomb. Either way try to stun then DoT incoming forces then move to a spot away from the crowd. While generally this is a bad thing to do for Sorcs in Voidstar is Survival 101 as ranged and melee classes with flood the door to plant or deactivate bomb. In contrast to my defensive playing, when attacking I try to single out the enemies I will attack...mainly those closest to the door. Attacking is much harder than defending on Voidstar obviously but if you (and your team) can eliminate as many guards as possible while 1 or 2 people plant the bomb then your set. Once a bomb is planted stuns/CCs/Overload anyone coming near the door. It takes about 8 secs to plant the bomb but 3sec to unplant it so protecting it is key to winning. Generally while singling out defenders trying to prevent the bomb from being planted you can easily rack up 10-15 kills depending. Defender a.k.a. CrowdControl Now that you are defending you must do the opposite of attacking....deactivate the bomb at all costs. Prevent the planting of it at all costs. Defending is a much easier task on Voidstar as stated before because all the attackers must rush the doors. For Sorcs this is where we really are able to get the 75k dmg, 10kills, 25kills medals. When enemies rush and crowd the doors activate and boosting relics or use Recklessness then drop a ForceStorm followed by a Deathfield. You are guarantied to do incredible amounts of dmg and take out a few reps in the process. This is also the easiest way to help your team in stopping the bomb from being planted. If the bomb is planted the try attacking the enemies standing away from the door as they are either healers or ranged dps. In this situation they are the most dangerous enemies since they will keep healing your allies while killing yours. Dwindling their numbers makes it easier to beat the reps at their own game. And ofcourse if you get hit and are low on health ForceSpeed away and then heal up with DarkInfusion. This is the better of the 2 scenarios in Voidstar for Sorcerers as we have 2 great large-scale attacks to dissipate crowds of attackers and nice DoTs to deal with single enemies trying to sneak in and plant the bomb. Avg. Medals Quick Draw Medal- score killing blow Soldier Medal- 10kills Assassin Medal- win a 1v1 Commando Medal- 25kills Combatant Medal- deal 75K damage Medic Medal- heals for 2.5k hp Defender Medal- earn 1k defense pts *Warden Medal- earn 3k defense pts Misc. This is the play style I go with when I play in WZs. Equipment-wise just get the best that you can wear, though equipment with high-Crit stats helps out greatly in dealing damage. This is also the hybrid set I am personally using. I forsake the points for Whirlwind as I personally don't use it much. I see the need for less damage received from periodic effects more but that is just me. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201ZccMMdZcrcRsbkrc.1 None-the-less I hope this helps everyone in enhancing their Sorcerer playing styles and in getting more Exp, Medals, etc on Warzones. Smali
One thing you* should know about Doors/Turrent defense, a DoT'ed player can not cap it! So for solo defense, Affliction is your friend, if you manage to spam it on every attacker, you will have time to fly back down to the turret before they can cap it (Unless someone dispell it ofc). Once you get down, reapply the dots. Rinse repeat * Every Sorc! Edited February 28, 2012 by Smali
