Silarr
First of start the game with admin rights. Then wait a few secs-mins,while it creates the needed directories and tries to install directx9. If any of those fails the play button wont work. Just kill the launcher and try again, eventually it will work. Edited February 28, 2012 by Silarr
Inarai
Have you actually installed it, or are you attempting to simply copy and paste the files? The latter will not work for most software.

That's why the play button is greyed out, just like it is when you're downloading a new patch.
Minden
I have a very slow internet connection and two computers (laptop and desktop). I first downloaded to the laptop at a friends house (he can get faster internet). I then installed the client onto the desktop and as soon as it finished installing and started downloading asset files, hit CANCEL. I used a program called Beyond Compare (free trial for 30 days). Basically, copied the "Star Wars - The Old Republic" folder (under "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare" for me on Win7-64bit) to a USB hard drive. Then used Beyond Compare to copy from the USB to my desktop. It compares the two directories and only copies files that are different. Total "copy" time was less than 30 minutes but saved days of re-downloading at 1.5MB (best I can get in the woods). Did the same thing when copying PTS files from laptop to desktop later. Just ran Beyond Compare again and repeated the process.
halorix
I copied it over to my brothers computer and it works for him, so i doubt that's the issue, but I'm not saying it isn't, he's still running XP.

Before or after running the instll process and getting the launcher to do an initial start?
