Squeaki Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Is the standard spec a good spec to stick with for PvE leveling in the darkness tree? I am new to MMOs and this game. I am using a deception spec but I am looking for more survivability at lvl 45. TIA Squeaki
nToxiK Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Yes. I just leveled using the 31/0/10 spec and it was fine. I was able to solo a lot of elites that I could not do on one of my previous toons. Make sure to put your 31 points into Darkness first. Also, Darkness rocks in WZ's from lvl 10-49.

Mutterkorn Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I am currently leveling with a tank spec and i will go for 31/0/10. But while leveling i'm taking swelling shadows instead of Lightning Recovery and Disjunction till i get Force Shroud (at 46, i think).

I am still trying to figure out the rotation and I am not used to looking for the specific procs yet. The priority on the codex includes abilities that are not even in the standard build. I decided to just go with Willpower/Endurance/Strength in that order for stats. I have not quite figured out when and why to use force lightning as it was never in my rotation for my deception spec. This is all PvE though. Small addition: the codex priority says to use maul when EW is up but the build does not even use induction. Edited February 28, 2012 by Squeaki
Tarkoss Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 If the item doesn’t have Endurance AND Willpower on it then that item’s for you. Secondary stats you should look for are Defense, Shield, and Absorption. While you’re leveling keep a balance between endurance and willpower with a lean towards endurance and adjust the balance according to your gameplay. Procs to look for, Energize and Harnessed Darkness. The codex has an entry for Maul but it says – “If you’re not WitherStab specialized, don’t use it at all.” Standard build isn’t the WitherStab build, so you won’t use Maul as a standard build. Also note that Maul isn't listed in the Priority List.

kijthae Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I leveled with deception at the launch but madness seems best leveling spec now.Its every tier is beneficial for leveling faster.
