Graydon
Why must I enter a secutiry key to post on the forums? Yes for game logins Yes for account maintenance NO for forum logins. Sometimes I like to browse the forums while on my porcelain throne with my iPhone. It's a big hinderence when logging to post. Thanks!
bcbully
because to post on here logs you into your account. As an option you can read the forsums and just not post while dropping your friends off at the pool.
Minguss
IMo these keys are to cover bioware's *** and the typical teen *******. If you have an 8 digit password with caps and one special character it would take years to crack it. Add to that the personal security questions they ask and I don't see the need. Its one more level to protect idiots who use weak pasaswords and share them, and to protect bioware from a class action suit if they get hacked (IE Sony). Pink_Saber
Because you need to log in to post. And once you're logged in, you can modify your account. It's pretty simple, really.
Qoojo
I get asked one of my security questions every single time I login. How stupid is that? It's suppose to be a question for additional security, but by asking it every single time, it's possible to log all the questions if infected with a keylogger, and thus bypass the intent of the security. A "real men of genius" implementation.

It's to protect from keyloggers and phishing emails. Without a security key both of these forms of attack could cause someone to lose their account. However with the security key, even if somebody manages to get a username/password combination from someone it is still of no use to them. There would be no "class action". All Bioware need to do is say that the "hacking" was due to insecure computers at the customers end. Bioware cannot be expected to babysit people who cannot keep their own PC's secure. There is the option of a security key to make things safer, don't buy one, potentially get hacked - Bioware really don't care, there is no come-back on them. Graydon
Because you need to log in to post. And once you're logged in, you can modify your account. It's pretty simple, really. Yes it is simple.... Other MMO's require you to login separately when accessing your account page. This page should require the security key. How often does one hit the "my account" button? Very rare. Forum logins should not require key...account logins should...so yes very simple.

TiiRahnedancer
Forum logins should not require key...account logins should...so yes very simple. It's because they don't want people without an active account to post here in the official forums.

And As I said its to protect 1d10ts who still fall for phising scams and dont how to protect their PC. If I had a keylogger on my box the last thing i am concerned about is someone stripping my MMO toon. But then again I have a life. I play for fun and punching in a 10 digit numberr everytime i want to post or play is not fun. Not to mention that if you lose that keychain or your phone breaks now you have to call to get in. The inconvienance outweighs security way too much for me. Should just be used for accout access and you should be able to turn game login off and on through your account. Right now its all or nothing.
