Instance Loot - Change BoP to BoIE

Instead of "Bind on PickUp" for items dropped from bosses in instances, change them to "Bind on Instance Exit".

this would enable PuGs in normal Ops to use the built-in loot systems, and when the sage columni piece is given to the same person for the 4th time, they can give it to whoever needs it...

This is definately a good idea, although to be honest Bind on Pickup should just be removed from loot altogether, I know so many people who have won an item during a flashpoint who couldve used it on another character but it was bound making it useless to them.

actually its a terrible idea. if you want gear on your alts then play them. you should be steamrolling things on your main just to gear out your alts. there isnt much point to character progression if you are progressing it on a different character.

@op the current system is no different than the "everyone gets a bag" system that EVERYONE adored in beta. the only difference is that everyone gets tokens now instead of as a booby prize for not getting loot.

So its terrible that when a double-bladed lightsaber drops in a flashpoint without a jedi shadow in the group that it is no trade, I would much rather give it to another character than sell it for credits, this is especially true in situations where there are no jedi in the group.

On rare occasions yes that can occur but lets face it if BoP is removed no one will use greed system. Everyone will roll need as everyone else will be under the mask of "I need this for an alt" even know someone in the group could use it themselves. And then there will be even more people that will need everything only then to sell it on the GTN.

Removing BoP is a stupid idea.

Not altogether. That will give you folks "Need"ing everything.

This is an issue, but a separate one entirely. One that is currently being worked on, in fact.

Some form of binding to character does need to be maintained in regard to these items, either on pickup or instance exit; the suggestion may be a viable alternative, if it can be designed and properly implemented. And provided the vocal masses allow the developers the opportunity to develop innovative systems, which has been proving to be a challenge in itself thus far.

this pretty much sums it up.

Please note, the OP is not advocating the removal of bound items. He is advocating that items only become "bound" when you leave the instance.

The idea is that any screw ups in the system (or by players accidentally needing on items) can be resolved while they are still in the instance.

On exiting the instance, the item will still become bound to the player that has the item.

Stay on topic. ;)

Edited for clarity.

I knew the OP was not asking for this, my post was in reply to the replies.

OT, The overall idea sounds good yes but implementation might be a pain. Also they would need to make sure to place restrictions on the mail box you are able summon that is coming in legacy updates. But yes mistakes happen and it would be nice if there was some kinda of safeguard system put in place.

Hm. I don't know why more people don't do what we do in our guild's ops.

All ops are run with Master Looter. That way, if there's a piece that multiple people need, they /roll for it. No one but the class for which the gear is designed may need on it unless ALL of that class pass on the gear by typing PASS or GREED.

Drops like BCAs are awarded via the same system. /roll for it, highest roll wins.

Yes, I've run multiple ops where I didn't win a single piece of gear - but the rest of my guild got better, which means we can tackle HM ops sooner rather than later. Win-win for everyone.

By the way, we've run 32 people through EV this week, and 24 through KP. Pretty healthy guild for a "light" population server.

Primarily because there are inherent trust issues in a pickup group that essentially renders Master Looter useless in such situations. Most guilds do use the system you describe, or some variation thereof. Edited by HeavensAgent

It is possible to implement this.

In Wow you can trade b.o.p. items within 2 hrs of game time with all participants of that instance (I guess those extra programming ressources and data tracking did outweight the GM time on tickets for misslooted items).

I am however against removing b.o.p. altogether. Yes there maybe time where you get items for vendoring. Ain´t the tough.
