Strategic Information Services Class Suggestion

My suggestion is for a new class type for some further expansion pack or whenever a bigger content release comes. Obviously, this would take a very long time to create. The more I think about it, the less likely it is because so much of this game is instanced, but there may be some workarounds.

The suggestion stems from the fact that the Imperial Agent is so much fun for me, but I just can't stomach the Smuggler. I don't know what it is, but the classes just feel so different. On paper, the skills are exactly the same, but the look, feel, and purpose of the class is just so different. I'd like to see a true Republic version of the Imperial Agent; the best equivalent being an agent in the Republic SIS.

If this new class was just a direct port of the Imperial Agent, then I'd be more than fine with that. I love how the Agent plays and it would make a lot of sense for the two to have similar abilities and skills such as Snipe, Fragmentation Grenade, Flash Bang, & Explosive Probe. However, some abilities could be changed to a more Republic-esque like Bacta Shot/Injection instead of Kolto Injection, Bacta Probe instead of Kolto Probe, and Adrenal Shot instead of Stim Boost to name a few.

I think the class would be fun and an interesting twist on something that we already have. I'm sure it would take a lot of work and resources to create a new class story and all the VO work, but that's also an issue with the overall construction of the game in terms of creating new classes or even ACs.

Also, in typical BioWare Austin fashion, there would be plenty of skills, images, and animations that the developers could copy and paste to the SIS Agent.

Here are some ACs and specialisations that I've come up with:

Infiltrator (Operative equivalent):

This would be the stealth and heal Advanced Class for the SIS Agent. For all intents and purposes, it would just be a Republic version of the Operative.

Undercover:

This would be the Concealment equivalent with an emphasis on stealth and mêlée attacks with high burst damage.

Surgeon:

This would be the Medicine equivalent with all of the healing abilities.

Contamination:

This would be the shared tree that's the Lethality equivalent that relies on abilities that cause poison effects.

Scout (Sniper equivalent):

Precision:

Marksmanship equivalent with emphasis on the usage of the sniper rifle.

Mechanic:

Engineering equivalent with emphasis on probes and machinery.

Contamination:

The shared tree that's the Lethality equivalent, which relies on abilities that cause poison effects.

Sooooo you want two identical classes on one side?

Yes. I want to be able to play the class that I love on the Empire side on the Republic side. I don't find any enjoyment in the current "mirror" class, so I'd like to see something created for the Republic.

That's what I'm thinking about this as well. It's highly impractical, and would be a real waste of resources.

I don't think it's that impractical. Many of the animations are already there, the weapons are basically there, and we all know that BioWare Austin loves to copy and paste. Other than the new story that would be required, abilities, animations, and a lot of gear can just be recoloured and renamed.

I dunno, I really like blasting someone in the back with a shotgun right after I kicked them in the genitals... How could you hate being a Smuggler ?

I'd much prefer to use the vibroknife and other Agent abilities. I just don't think the Smuggler is fun at all. If you like it, then good for you. I prefer stabbing someone right after I paralysed them with Debilitate. I also don't like the story, the character, or the overall sense of the class. I do like Corso, though. He's a nice guy and much better than Kaliyo.

So, I guess I still don't follow. You say you enjoy playing an agent, and that you like the Agent story better, and the agent abilities are more your playstyle... so why is an agent not good enough ? Why spend all that time creating a new class, new storyline, new gear, etc. so that you can play a class that already exists ?

I don't want to play on the Empire side. I'd like to play with my guild on the Republic side, I don't like the Empire, I don't like dealing with Sith, and all the other things that go with Imperial garbage. I want that character on the Republic side, but I'm not a fan of faction switches. The new class also gives new options for already existing things.
