Legacy...alts now or later?

So with legacy coming "soon" i want to wait to really work on leveling my alts, but im also chomping at the bit to get started.

what do you guys think? Do you predict "heirloom" type items or buffs for legacy characters, or perhaps new legacy-only races? or simply cosmetic trinkets that wouldnt affect my alt's leveling process (in which case i could start now)

The only thing they've confirmed is that you'll be able to use different current races with different classes. For example, we might be able to roll a Chiss smuggler. That kind of thing.

They've not really confirmed anything else. So if that's something you'd like to play around with, might be a good idea to have at least one new character slot open.

This is exactly why the legacy system MIGHT be such a freaking kick to the groin to players. There is no confirmation to this, but as it is, it seems as though people are being PUNISHED for playing Bioware's game, that is, actually trying out all the classes before these precious legacy features come out.

Unless Bioware allows a race change or something to that effect, it's a slap in the face. What about people who leveled each class to like 25? Delete them? Give me a break. "Unfair" is often seen as an immature word or excuse, but that's exactly what it is if they release these features only for new level 1s. Bioware NEVER stated players should wait to level up because the legacy system would grant stuff to level 1s.

Now, if one can access these new features no matter what level you are (as long as you have the right legacy level) then everything's fair and fine. As it is, we are not sure.

I am sorry, but i do not feel punished for not being able to play some blind force using character on the sith side, or a chiss on the republic side. Oh no! i won't be able to use some social ability.

You realize a lot of people care what their characters look like, right? I know I do. I can't wait for race changes and the legacy system.

I think they have stated that races would be available (although at first it is assumed that it would be empire races for republic and vice versa).

Am I the only one who thinks this should have been added after the 1st month? doubt i'll delete any existing classes, but i'll get annoyed knowing what could have been.

Ok?? I am sorry.. I googled this and didn't find anything..

To start.. There has been a lot of Legacy chatter.. But I can't find any info on what it might do or when it will be released.. Other than the what was said in that one video that it would give players additional abilities.. I am not sure how the linking of all the characters will work or the family tree thing..

Legacy alts?? What are they?? Is there any official information on them or is this all speculation??

Sorry.. I did look.. :(

The details of Legacy system never revealed, nor tested. It was just another PR campaign.. No reason to believe it'll come soon enough.

And the whole point of Legacy system is to make you create an alt and resub another month. Most likely they will not retrofit your old alts with legacy benefits. Not to mention the new races and new cosmetic additions.

I used to have half Empire and half Republic on one server. I've deleted my Republic characters, which were all low level, and recreated them on another server. Figured it would make crafting easier that way. I'm gonna fill out the empty slots on both servers after legacy benefits kick in.

Dude, I wish EVERYTHING had been added after the 1st month. I am selfish like that.:D

That doesn't mean it was ready by that time, though.

In life, and in video games, I would much rather wait until something is done before I dig in. If the legacy system wasn't ready at that time, I'll be that much hungrier to try it out when it is finished.

Personally, I have held off rolling too many alts. The very first time I heard about the legacy system I decided I would hold up long enough to find out what it does before I went alt crazy.

OP, my advice is to wait. There are too many unknowns about the legacy system. Better to hang back and see what it is before you start filling all your character slots.

These are the races from SWG (all available at launch, except for MAYBE Sullustan, can't remember):

•Bothan

•Human

•Sullustan

•Ithorian

•Mon Calamari

•Rodian

•Trandoshan

•Twilek

•Wookiee

•Zabrak

When I heard 'different playable races,' this was more like what I was thinking. Cyborg, Chiss, Mirialan, Rattataki.... seriously? I think one of these groups of species seems a little more like Star Wars... and the other group feels kinda like Mortal Kombat I, where the sprites for Sub-Zero and Skorpion were exactly the same except for the colors.

Some might think I'm askin' a lot, but it ain't like SWG set the bar very high.

You're not playing the game though, so what do you care?

You should probably switch your desires to finding a job/friends/gf instead of sitting on the SWTOR forums complaining about a video game.

It's even worse than that. Imagine someone who wants to make one of the new species/class combinations as their main character, but cannot, of course, and then makes, let's say, a human smuggler. They will now be 50, possibly Columi-geared, maybe have already raided a bit. Then, *poof*, enter 1.2 and legacy rewards, and their favourite class/species combination becomes available - only for new characters. They would have to reroll their MAIN CHARACTER.

If that's Bioware will do it might be the most epic facepalm these forums have yet to experience...

So do you expect them to allow you to change from say the human to another race on your current character?

I dont think you will see that happening anytime soon. Only when they finally put in a barber shop (or whatever you wish to call it) will you be able to do that.

Look at everything Bioware has done with this game.

What makes you think Legacy will be anything but another laughable, half-assed system that in some way encourages you to subscribe for another month or two by grinding away at something like the good little hamster in a wheel Bioware sees you as?

Race-change options are likely a long ways off just yet, I'm not too bothered with race choices as these don't alter the story very much at all, gender probably has bigger differences.

I'm expecting no NEW race options, only the ability to create classes using the race options for the Mirror classes, possibly expanding the choices of race for classes from the existing race pool (E.G. Ratataki Sith Warrior, Chiss Inquisitor, Sith Pureblood Bounty Hunter).

I've already made all my alts & levelled them all up a long way, unless they add some extra character-slots to the servers I shall not be creating any new race/class combinations from the Legacy-enabled options.
