Remove 1 hour buffs

One hour lasting buff abilities are uninteresting. The buffs are:

Coordination

Mark of Power

Unnatural Might

Hunter's Boon

You will always have them on anyway. They hold little gameplay value beyond the stat boost: encourage players to form groups, limit class choices when assembling groups and maybe in pvp provide flak for more important buffs.

The skill takes up precious quick bar space. The buff icons clutter the buff/debuff list on unit frames which is already hard to read.

I suggest to replace the buffs by passive auras which affect your party members.

Which is undoubtly as intended

limit class choices when assembling groups

They don't limit it, but as you put it previously: encourage, in this case they encourage a ballanced group composition. Even IF, say any smuggler is 2% DPS behind on any other class, or their healers are 2% behind other healers in effectiveness, they're worth bringing along just for their class buff. So it's designed to encourage you to bring along every class, even if that class is undesirable compared to others to bring along. You can do a flashpoint with 4 Consulars or 4 Troopers. Easily. But mixing up the group composition is beneficial.

and maybe in pvp provide flak for more important buffs.

I haven't heard anything about buffs/debuffs falling off for lack of slots yet. Is some maximum amount found yet?

The skill takes up precious quick bar space.

I don't know, I haven't had trouble yet placing all my skills in my taskbars. Long term buffs like these, together with any stances/ammo/guard etc. generally go to the left-side bar in the bottom for me. Just like mission-items with on-use generally go to the right side bar in the bottom. No need to hotkey those, just a place where I can quickly click them all and be done with it.

The buff icons clutter the buff/debuff list on unit frames which is already hard to read.

We've already been told that we get to customize the UI in 1.2. Let's just see how that turns out, and whether it suffices.

I suggest to replace the buffs by passive auras which affect your party members.

Passive aura's? Is it so hard to quickly click a button (or press a hotkey) in case one of your groupmembers dies and receives a battlerez? You don't even have to target him/her, it even works while targetting an enemy mob. And there's really no skill required for pressing that button while you're still assembling before a pull. "We're standing still, I'm bored! Ooooooh buttonnnnnnnn"

I meant flak as dispel protection, if you have a shield and 1 hour buff an offensive dispel could take away the less valuable one. I am not aware of buff/debuff count limit either.

I would not appreciate being brought to the group just because I bring along a certain 1 hour buff, but that is another discussion because I am not suggesting to abolish the buff, rather just change the UI around them.

Correct, the OP isn't saying "GET RID OF THEM!". The OP simply is thinking about a logical situation where having to activate them on yourself every hour is kind of pointless, as everyone pretty much always has their class buff up all the time. A hour long buff you can apply every couple seconds begs the question of why, when a persistent aura will work just the same.

Turning it into a static aura:

  • No more need to bother clicking once and hour to 'turn it on' (no one ever has ever wanted to turn it off).
  • No need to bother with it after each death, its just on (bioware already did this with sprint).
  • When in group, group members benefit from the buff if they are within range... urging groups to actually stay together instead of running off halfkocked.
  • Aura buff applied to group member could last like a minute if member runs out of range.
  • Free up a quickbar slot of something you only click once an hour needlessly.

If you wish to 'give your buff to a random single player who passes by', there could still be the skill you click to apply to other players individually. But how many people do this, or would bother? So, being optional, most can just ditch the skill from their toolbars, since they only care about their aura and groups.

I do not see this as a bad suggestion when you look at it logically. Some people just jump to the extremes thinking the worst without opening their mind that "yeah, this could be better".
