thomasgallant
its logical the game is on sale.. the majority of peopel who want the game already have bought it.. lowering the price will get those who are on the fence about the 60 dollar cost to give it a try..every game company does it... Katharis
step 3) $39.99 and free Jawa What! That's outrageous! There better be some way for people who already bought the game to get that Jawa or I shall cry 'Moneygrabber!' and resub just so I can unsub to teach those evil marketeers a lesson! Yep, if you want to know how this script plays out, go read about Warhammer Online. It's almost the exact same plot. Promising as heck game, beyond fail execution. Catch_TwentyTwo
If you paid $60 for it even at launch, then you clearly didn't shop around. RRP. vs. what retailers will actually reduce to in order to getr you to buy from them can be quite wide. I shopped around and got a good bargain on my CE, but that didn't mean this was a bad game. Will continue to play, so another one of these "This most successful launch game is failing" threads is just something to laugh at.

Catch_TwentyTwo
Launch is over.Yes it is, and yet their are muppets who post garbage like this, with feigned surprise, that the price of the game is now being reduced... All I anm seeing here is normal market forces in play. Everyone who wanted in on day 1 was willing to pay a premium price, now the price has been reduced in order to entice further buys. Quite standard practice and just goes to prove that the game will continue to grow.

A few of us will play, but alas, the game will be F2P soon. Following F2P will also follow open-source, meaning private servers that work better than the actual game will follow suit. How fun. Yes you are seeing the normal market forces in play, market forces that represent a lack of demand for said product. Something which is not very auspicious. aivedoir
Why don't they start the free trials already? Most servers have no queue, and I could use more people to finish off those heroics... Free trial doesn't indicate that an mmo is dying, right? Free trial doesn't indicate that an mmo is dying, right? I don't think free trials indicate an MMO is dying, and certainly not more so than rapidly dropping prices in retail price for the game. WoW has always had plenty of free trials while retail price on average has held fairly well throughout. Obviously this is exempting your periodic and anecdotal retailer "fire-sale." DarkCarnage
it me after they make so much in box sales tehy can lower the MFRP abit so it cheaper, easier toget more poeple on and get more subs.
Sparklehorse
For a game that's "failing," I'm having a heck of a time catching a copy of it in stock at my local Walmart or gamestop. I've been trying for two weeks to get a physical copy for my brother for his birthday and was told by both places that if I wanted to be sure to get a copy I should be there on the day the truck arrives because they are still limiting copies to retailers in some regions and the few copies they get, sell within a couple days. I don't know a lot about retail sales but it seems to me if they were having trouble moving units, they wouldn't be limiting stock to certain areas. Also, I'm pretty sure a 10 dollar drop in price 90 days out from release is the norm and indicates nothing more than crafty marketing.
ckoneful
Zomg you can buy all the previous expansions to WoW for 20$! It's failing and going bargain bin guys! Also, as the guy above me said I can't find game time cards anywhere to spend my gift cards I got for Christmas, it's obviously failing and has no one playing it though!
