Honestly sentinel is not that hard to play. You just have to be more aware of your surroundings.

jump in, build focus, spend focus, going poorly? vanish or become invincible. Have 30 points saved up? time to use a buff.

It's just not faceroll easy like commando gunnary or sage / sorc hybrid.

In all honesty, I found playing Powertech tank build to be the most intensive learning curve (and I use "intensive" VERY loosely). To play it well mind you. You lack heals, besides meds that everyone has access to and you do very low damage compared to straight dps classes. Your survivability only goes so far if you don't utilize your cooldowns and abilities well. Knowing how to manage your energy (Heat) is vital against a number of the classes/specs. If you just use your noticeably weak spammable abilities, you'll be dead... very fast.

There are some other things pertaining to the class itself as well, but everything else regarding playing the class involves just knowing how to pvp in general. The universal knowledge that works for every class and game. The fact that THAT is a huge part of doing well as Powertech tank, whereas others don't need it as much, makes it a steep learning curve IMO.

Edit: I forgot to add that once these things are taken care of, you can dominate EVERYONE. There was no class in the 10-49 bracket that presented a problem to me once I got access to important abilities (like Jet Charge and Grapple). Use your interrupts well, as you have 4 interrupt abilities total (Charge, Grapple, stun included). And be creative about the root effect from the Charge and your Grapple ability, particularly in Huttball. You make many enemies that way. I'll leave it to you to figure out what I mean. It was a lot of fun for me playing my Powertech tank at those levels.

Hi, I'm wondering if there is a class that is particularly difficult to get the hang of, but once mastered dominates in warzones. Is there any class like this?

Probably not the hardest class to learn, but assassin/shadows dominate warzones if played correctly. You have 3 different specs all played very differently

I haven't even leveled mine high enough to get the vanish, so I wouldn't know about the benefits of bolting when things go wrong.

he wanted a class to dominate wz's with, not the worst class in the game bar none.

Let me understand this...do sniper "suck" the same way mara/sentinel "sucks"(by what you hear from these boards) at pvp?

please, notice the "

Yea, good Snipers are extremely strong in 1v1 (lvl 50 Guardian and Sage-View). Also my lvl 27 Sniper feels very strong. I don't really know why people think that they are weak. Same with Sentinel/Marauders. They are also very strong. However, i don't feel that Marauders/Sentinel are very hard to play and you can't really do special things with them. Edited by Teabaker

A good sniper is a priority target.... hell even a bad sniper needs to be put down fairly quickly.

Oh what are you talkin 'bout. Sniper is the weakest profession out there. Just ignore them, they can't do anything at all but slap people with wet noodles. It's those sorces that are causing all that high damage not that guy sitting in cover.....just ignore him...nothing to see here.

I don't understand these posts. They're worthless.

The steepest learning curve? Everyone learns things at different rates. There is no one way to play a class.

You should play what class you find fun. Bottom Line.

I do not like ranged classes. They're boring to me. I'd rather leap into the middle of the action and scatter the enemy group. I play a Jugg and a Guardian. I prefer those classes. They're the weakest in Solo PvP, but in a group I can hold my own and get a bunch of medals... even if we don't win the warzone gives me just as much for a reward as it would if I won. I don't think that if I played a class that I hated I could say that I would have as much dedication to it as I do the melee tank/dps class.

That being said. The most over powered classes that dominates PvP are:

Tracer / Grav spam Troopers and Bhs. 0/21/20 Sorcs/sages. Which ever side has the most of these classes, wins.

From what I've seen, all the classes except Sage/Sorc/Guardian/Jugg seem to have a fairly high skill cap. As far as steepest learning curve goes, probably snipers. There is a huge difference between a good one and a bad one.

Oh, missed that domination part! Thought he just wanted a hard class!

Funny, I kill snipers as fast as I can when I see them. Those guys absolutely tear up the other team and do it in a non-flashy way. No bright dual wielding sabers or double-blade sabers schwing schwinging. No lightning or giant rock spewing. Just nearly silent super ranged epic damage. Good snipers often top damage charts due to being ignored by the less aware players.

Yes, but they die in 5-8 seconds if focused. :S

Granted, I can kill a powertech ball carrier through guard in less than 15s if left to freecast on my sniper and the carrier's got no heals...

I most definitely agree, but once you become accustomed, and even though I am a tank I still come out top 3 damage, top 3 protection, top 3 medals, top 3 kills and killing blows but I also usually come out top 3 deaths :D

But that's mainly because I have crappy gear, I am still leveling, as well as I am not afraid to start a battle I can't win. I'm currently lvl 37.

ONE THING TO NOTE is that just because powertech's have guns does not mean they are ranged tanks, in fact most of your core abilities (i.e. Rocket Punch) requires you to be within 4 meters of the target. POWERTECHS ARE ALSO F**CK**G BEASTS, so while lvling its really hard to die!

Be careful of cooldowns, make sure you use your railshot proc correctly, and I will say it again just because you have guns does not mean you are a RANGED tank!

Hope it helps!
