Boarg Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 For Augments, Willpower is the best for both Infiltration and Balance. Power is a very close second. (Direct point-for-point trade.) Just for an example of how it pans out, I used Simcraft with 4000 iterations each to figure out total long-term average effect. Bear in mind, this is sustained PvE style dps and with a strong gearset, but it's still pretty representative of your total damage capability in PvP. Infiltration (baseline) - 1296 Infiltration (+100 Will) - 1333 Infiltration (+100 Pow) - 1330 (Power provides 92% of the value of Willpower) Balance (baseline) - 1471 Balance (+100 Will) - 1512 Balance (+100 Pow) - 1510 (Power provides 95% of the value of Willpower - not counting increased self healing from WP) For Kinetic, Power may pull even or ahead slightly because it gets so many autocrits on Project from Particle Acceleration, and it doesn't have any crit multiplier bonuses on abilities. FYI, I don't advise comparing the Infiltration and Balance numbers against each other for the purpose of comparing specs. Also, realize the difference here is pretty small - it's not worth sweating over.
Boarg Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 (edited) Just some nuggets to point out if they weren't already obvious... The bonus damage conversions of Willpower and Power don't have a direct form of DR like crit% conversions, surge% conversions, etc. However, they do still have a very real indirect form of DR. Adding 5 bonus damage to a 400 bonus (1.25% increase) isn't as valuable as adding 5 bonus damage to a 500 bonus (1.00% increase.) The crit boost from the Willpower stat operates on a completely separate DR curve from the "crit" stat DR curve. Overall gearing strategies are very complex because of the value of balancing all stats appropriately as well as severe limitations on what itemization is actually available to trade one stat for another in various quantities and proportions. It makes for a pretty interesting discussion, but as most people are still just starting to accumulate their high-end gear they don't exactly have a pool of top enhancements and mods and such to trade out one for another. They're still getting the last 2/3rds of their war hero set and such instead of picking up all the surplus pieces needed to collect all the optimal sub-parts. So, it's more an academic discussion rather than practical for most. However, Augments in particular do present a rare chance to cherry pick one particular "best" stat in equal quantity mostly apart from all the rest of the issues. Edited May 3, 2012 by Boarg
