alhatza
Well, is not like i really care for a valentine event, but seasonals events are something i actually enjoyed on other mmorpgs, so i was just thinking if this is going to mean that Bioware do not have plan for any "especial" events ir is just that they were to lazy for this time
SamuraBob_Fl
Why I would I complain about a lack of cheesy timewasters?

Thunder-God
They aren't doing any traditional holiday events. If they do any events they will be within cannon.
JustTed
Why I would I complain about a lack of cheesy timewasters? The game is a cheesy time waster, or are you getting college credit at the Jedi Academy?

Blotter
Oh, this is rich. I can see it now... No valentine's event: "ZOMG NO VALENTINE'S EVENT? WHY IS NOBODY THREATENING TO RAGEQUIT OVER THIS????!!!!???? BW HAZ TEH LAZY!!!!" Valentine's event: "ZOMG WHAT A FARCE...THE GAME IS TEH BROKENZ AND HAZ MORE BUGGIES THAN TEH RAINFOREST AND THEY'RE SPENDING ALL THEIR TIMES ON CHEESY HOLIDAI MESS!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!" ventuviper
Bioware already stated that they will not be putting any traditional holidays, themes or cultural references in TOR as it will break immersion. I personally agree with this because too many games are "selling out" to this sort of thing. WoW has way too many of these damn holidays and it is nothing exciting. Benfynyn
I can only imagine the chaos on the forums if they had rolled out a Valentine's Day event. People complaining that major fixes were neglected in favour of a made up holiday... It would have been glorious.

Chindi
No reason they can't do events for "real" SW festivals. They don't have to coincide with, or be themed around, Earth holidays.

You can imagine that and you are not intrigued why there is not a single post complaining for an event? Maybe for the first time in history the entire community agreed with a developers choice? Blotter
At least we had something to discuss, but i find the lack of event as perturbing as the lack of rage... Why though? You don't expain why this is "perturbing" at all. We're playing a Star Wars RPG set in the context of a Star Wars universe. Were Hallmark and the Chamber of Commerce involved int eh Star Wars universe such that they had fabricated holidays like valentine's Day or Santa-fied Christmas for the purpose of encouraging rampant consumerism? I'm absolutely sure I'm not alone when I say I found it "disturbing" in games like WoW when the developer's used real world holidays as an excuse for rolling out generally fairly bland, mildly entertaining, fourth-wall-violating FLUFF CONTENT. Conversely, events like the holidays set in the context of the game world in which we were playing had much more appeal...like the big burning effigy outside UC or when we could earn a meaningless skin change to our mount's graphics for doing a few dailies in other in-game holidays. BTW, I play on a PvP server, not on an RP server, so don't jump to that conclusion. Edited February 15, 2012 by Blotter
