Praedomundi Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Gunslingers are way too good, from their amazing ability to heal, to their impenetrable armor. They simply have too much utility. How could the devs possibly put a class in this game that has to stay in one spot to do any damage, and has a shield that absorbs half an incoming attack. How can this be considered fair on any level? I can't remember the last time one of them didn't sprint or vanish away when they were about to die. FIX THEM! Sarcasm aside... Some of the positives and negatives to this class: Positives: *This class does excellent damage in the SS tree, other specs may be viable, but this is my first hand experience. *Flash grenade, a 1min cd 8 sec incapacitate *Dirty Kick, a 45 sec cd, 4 sec stun *Aimed Shot, a 15 sec cd, 1.5, or 2.5 sec cast, 10m knockback *Defense Screen, a 45 sec, 1500-2000 dmg absorption *Pulse Detonator, a 30 sec cd, energy free knockback *Hunker Down, a 60 sec cd, 20 sec immunity to cc and knockback *Leg Shot, a 15 sec cd, 5 sec immobilize *Fun to play Negatives: *No healing abilities *Pure Shockfrozen Water was nerfed, now I have absolutely nothing. *Weakest armor in the game *Lowest mobility in the game *Energy management *No escapes *Abilities can be deflected, dodged, or just miss *Unlike Bounty Hunter which can spam one move and be viable, this class takes some skill to play *Often targeted for shortcomings *Not fun to play While I understand the need to nerf the shockfrozen water, it was my instant heal once I got out of combat, waiting to get out of combat and then channel my 15 sec ability is just too much of a trouble and too time consuming. This also highlights the lack of healing abilities..... I understand that you can do some damage and be mobile with the Sab spec, but it's kind of dumb to limit yourself to that playstyle in order to be mobile. Think about it, we have three damage trees, should they not all be viable? Energy management, this class can do terrific and terrifying damage in short periods of time, but it will burn through your energy like none other, while a sage can faceroll their way through 500 to 600 energy. No escapes means that in the event that 2 or more people decide to attack you and you would like to just run, you can't. There is no escape, you get to smile and wait for the inevitable death that is sure to come. While 1v1s are easy for us, any more than that causes problems for this class. Numerous times when I have fired abilities off at people they are dodged, deflected, or miss. I have read that this is not a problem at max level, but again should we really have to wait to max level to fix something so crucial to our class? I can't tell you how many times it feels like people peel off just to come squash me like the bug this class is.

Ammo/Heat is much more difficult -You cannot spam only Tracer/Grav and be viable. It's their ramp-up. -Medium Armor is not as weak as light armor; The wearers of Light armor just have enough to compensate so that it ends up being better overall. Main problem with a Sniper/Gunslinger is that you can only beat melee classes.

Ammo/Heat is much more difficult I would agree that many classes have to deal with resource management, but I disagree that any are harder, as someone who has a 50 GS and a 30 Commando. I think the regen issues are about the same: they take practice. The Trooper does seem to have more talents specifically designed to reduce the costs of commonly used skills for each tree. Gunslingers, however, have very few of those. -You cannot spam only Tracer/Grav and be viable. It's their ramp-up. Haha, this may be true, but all I know is there was a Merc that pulled 500k in a WZ the other day and he was using Tracer almost exclusively. -Medium Armor is not as weak as light armor; The wearers of Light armor just have enough to compensate so that it ends up being better overall. This is the main issue for me. The only class on Republic side that has weaker defenses is possibly the Sage, but they are able to Force Shield themselves and use all of their heals. I have a friend that can keep himself up with 5 guys on him in a WZ. I get two and I am in trouble. Dodge needs to last longer than 3 seconds. The set bonus on the Enforcer gear needs to do more than add 1 second to it as well; it should add more like 3 or 6. Main problem with a Sniper/Gunslinger is that you can only beat melee classes. I honestly feel pretty balanced against everyone except Operatives, Sorcerers, and Assassins. I don't even last long enough to burn down one. I think it would help if Dodge avoided Tech and Force attacks as well as melee and ranged, because the Operative shouldn't be able to Vibroknife me while Dodge is up.

Crying about a certain class just due to your lack of skill not going to help, if you want to be able to be good at as a certain class, There are videos and guides out there how to improve yourself, seems your mostly after a "I WIN CLASS". Game would be boring if this was the case, every class has there "weakness" or there Arch-type Class that will have the advantage over you. 3. Dude, you gotta buy yourself a pair of glasses! Not only did you failed a sarcasm check, but you've also missed the "sarcasm off" remark. Now back on track. Yeah, dodge could use some improvement one minute cooldown for a 3 seconds immunity on white attacks?! How many of those are there, anyway?! Errr... Sharpshooter builds aside. If you ask me, no harm would be done if it's cd would be reduced from one minute to twenty seconds. Alternatively, Diversion could use some love. Don't you love the fact that you have to buy an ability that only works on your own class?! Make it 45% accuracy hit on ALL attack, including tech and force- now we're talking. Ultimately, some of GS special attacks could be reworked to be counted as tech damage, instead of ranged. Oh! By the way!!! I know that GS is supposed to look as badarss cowboy, but let's be serious here-sniper rifle vs dual wield gimped accuracy off-hand? Sniper rifle wins hands down. As a merc I couldn't care less about accuracy, as most of my damage is tech, but as a GS I really real myself gimped because of it.

It doesn't take that long to get and the cooldown on it is only 90s (instead of 180s on warzone medpacs) Its worth the effort if you are going to stay on the character and class. PvP is 8v8 and its either one team getting rolled or a slug fest the duration. No one likes being on the pwned team but it doesn't matter what class you are when its consistently 3v1; its stun, stun/snare, dropped target. I hate queues that fill after start and the enemy already has objectives taken. Can only try for medals when it gets lop-sided that quickly.

Id add an class with stealth, sprint while in combat, and self heals, just out performes GS. Wish they would give us sprint back. Dodge should DODGE..... just silly vibros dont count. I think they expected everyone to be a scoundrel. Sure wish I had picked one. I love it when ppl tell be to play at 30-35 and stay alive.... yeah cuz at those ranges there will never be LOS issues......in any warzones...

SS got old quick and irritates the heck out of me in pvp. Dirty fighting is just a breath of fresh air and more mobile/fast paced. With that being said thats the gunslinger I envisioned when I first made my smuggler. Not to be some pansy who sits behind cover all day being LoSed to death. SS is just really boring in my opinion. The lack of burst in dirty fighting is the only down side I got to say, but you can lay down some heavy *** damage with wounding shots.

Rofl, he wasn't trolling, but you somehow got trolled anyway. Good job. I agree with Gunslinger feeling a little bit lacking. Won't stop me from playing it because it is a **** load of fun, but I would like to see it balanced out against other classes. Outside of sharpshooter, it has no burst capability, and gets outstreamed by sorcerers. Against melee classes you're confined to not moving, because as soon as you do you're getting charged. Against mercs, you're confined to hoping you can outdamage him, because tracer missile isn't absorbed by cover. Against healers, you're confined to dying, because you can't outdamage their heals.
goskins Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 People who are supporting cover and saying gunslinger isnt underpowered are full of **** or barely pvp with their class or still under 50. I'm valor 60+, 620+ exp, close to half BM, rest all champ My aimed shot does LESS dmg to a tracer missle with a 1 second higher cast time and a cooldown, and less dmg than a force lightning. Hunkerdown is a terribly circumstantial move since u get LOSed all day on high-cast time "burst" moves. Any mobility with sabo/DF htbrids take 50+ energy to get off a single combo. Our "great" cc has some of the highest resolve gains in the game. Dirty Kick gives 80% resolve as well as flashbang. Anyone claiming gunslingers do great burst on tank classes is lying off their *** or not even lvl 50. The armor reduction and automatic 10% deflection chance with lightsabers make any ranged attacks inferior to other dps trees not just the whole class. There is absolutly no reason to play a GS over any other class. I can play my slinger well and am always carry my own on WZ, but if i were a sage with similar gear I would dominate not just carry my own.
