As found on the news bulletin:

I am in a guild and qualify for the character transfers. Will my entire guild be able to be transferred to an Asia Pacific server as a part of this program?

No, guild transfers are not possible as a part of this program. If your guild would like to continue playing together as a guild with existing characters, each member of the guild must qualify for the character transfer and request that their character(s) be transferred to the same Asia Pacific server as other members of the guild. Once your characters have been transferred to their new Asia Pacific server, you will need to reform your guild.

THIS IS UTTER BS AND KILLS IT FOR ME! I STAY WHERE I AM! OUTRAGEOUS REALLY!

What if most of your guild members received the free transfer and you don't? and they decided to move? haha you're totally screwed on that.

So... I live in Thailand and sub with Thailand credit card. Will I be entitled for a free transfer? And if I choose not to, are you going to ban AP IPs from NA and EU servers?

Just studying my options.

Just One Question for U.S players on the Swiftsure... will we get free transfers to other servers as well? or are we stuck on the sinking Titanic? the server health WILL go down the drain with the majority of the pop leaving. so why should we stay on a dead server?

Great news! Glad to see the game is expanding even further.

Great news for the Aussies and other Pacific players too, although it'll be sad to see them leaving the US servers.

My guild is on EU silly. I won't leave friends behind if they cannot move. Period.

Again BIOWARE THIS IS UTTER ********! ALLOW AT LEAST PAID TRANSFERS AT THE SAME TIME!

Thanks Dacce, he did miss my point completely. What if by moving from Swiftsure, the currently most populated server, to an AU server which turns out to be barren because not that many Australians actually want to play the game, what can I do then? It's next to impossible to do any end-game content on a barren server.

No I knew exactly your point, and my point is, again, why should Bioware be responsible where you xfer too?

If you xfer and it ends up being dead, how is Bioware responsible for you clicking that xfer button because YOU CHOSE to xfer there.

It's like, you place a bet but you want a get out clause incase you lose.

Makes no sense.

Probaply somewhere in Australia.

I doubt they would pick Australia for the servers due to the extremely high cost of bandwidth and general cost structures. It would not make economic sense.

If the servers are still in North America with the same latency and patch cycle then there will be a lot of disappointed people (including me).

No indication wahtsoever that that would be the case. Cost factors would seem to prohibit that IMO. Singapore is a safe bet.

You are wrong.

Can you explain more about where, physically, the Australian SWTOR servers are located, and what sort of ping Australians can expect to receive to these new servers?

Grant: We're having the servers located within Australia, which will certainly allow Australian, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore customers to take advantage of decreased network latency and improved performance. Of course performance is dependent upon many variables that are outside our control including a player’s computer hardware, network configuration, and internet connection speed so it will ultimately vary from person to person.

The reason this is such a big deal is, and I mean no offence to Hong Kong or Singapore here, that many Australians and New Zealanders would rather be playing with people whos primary language is English and I'm sure people from Hong Kong and Singapore would rather play with people who primarily speak their own language as well.

I live in Hong Kong but grew up in the US. Don't hate!

First of all, question: Is the AUS region accessible if I am already a subscriber of US/EU version (without migrating our characters at the moment)

I' not quite sure why they decided to make Hong Kong specifically a target in the new regional server.

I'm a Hong Kong player who currently playing in The Swiftsure. And as i know, swtor is not that famous in Hong Kong (Sooooo hard to find a copy of swtor during release) and the pool of player in Hong Kong is not that big at all. Most of them are usually experienced MMO players who used to play on US servers. And rather staying on US for higher population and quality player interactions.

Anyway, my point is launching a new region that includes Chinese-speaking-Asia without localization hardly attracted new group of players, pumping new bloods into servers. Language barrier is still a problem especially games like swtor that text takes up quite a large proportion of the gaming experience.

Of course i appreciate a lower ping and better connection quality , and probably will also benefit current mainland China, Taiwan and Macau players. But I am just concerned about possible problem of population divergence which end up in degradation of gaming experience and loss of populations....

Btw, i heard that EA China is working on the CN version of swtor with Simplified Chinese localization, any confirms from BW/EA people :p?

Nice I'm from HK too.

Like there wasn't already too many servers. Soon it will feel like single player!

Server migration yes, but to make the servers more populated, not less. I feel so alone on our server that all it needs is an effing TUMBLEWEED!

Posted

Bioware please listen to me when I say do not make the same mistake in opening too many servers to start with. I'd rather have a dense population on a few servers, than have low population across multiple servers.

Also when the Cross-Realm PvP/PvE is implemented, will we only be matched up with Oceanic realms or with US/EU as well? Or is that still undecided?

Man this may post a problem thou i may have either misunderstood what they say or what not..

‎"Qualified players in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, or Singapore, will be offered one-time free character transfers to Asia Pacific servers for a limited time period after the Asia Pacific launch."

So only Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore are the only one who get one-time free character transfers?

How bout neighbouring countries of those? like Singapore neighbours, Malaysian and Indonesian? Australian's neighbouring country? New Zealand neighbouring country?

how bout us? :|

How about people from Country like Malaysia Thailand Philiphine?

Do we get free transfer or we have to start again at lv 1 on new server?

If we don't purchase Asia-Swtor version but using NA-version can we still choose to play on Asia-pacific SV ?

Please read stuff before posting. I had been mentioned on a number of websites and in this very forum numerous times that the servers WILL BE IN AUSTRALIA.

Hmm... Anyone know what condiments are good for putting on hats, particularly Akubras? I don't think I can eat it "raw".

I said they'd never put a server/servers in Australia. Looks like I was wr....wrrrrr... incorrect.

Not sure if I'll be transferring yet, though. I'm mostly concerned about keeping my character's names at this point.

Nah you're **** outta luck dude, you won't get the free transfer.

We're just gonna sit around the the corner and cry like a little girl until someone notice us.

Or we can make a new toon at the Asia Pac server and start from scratch.
