DragonAgeOrgins
This is a sincere question. There are no combat log's, no recount. You had no idea how much damage you were actually doing. You had a good idea, maybe an estimated figure. My question is: How can you know if the nerf is affecting you without having a combat log to see if it has? Seltron
Floating combat text, mobs have a known amount of health, etc. There are quite a lot of numbers that you can use to theorycraft with.
SamuraBob_Fl
Take your crit rate, and apply your surge rate to figure out how much damage it was giving you before. Then compare that with your new crit/surge.
Azzras
Take your crit rate, and apply your surge rate to figure out how much damage it was giving you before. Then compare that with your new crit/surge. And how are you comparing that to the other classes? I think that is the real question: Where you OP or not compared to other classes? Also, nerfs come and go. Nothing to get worked up about, really.
SamuraBob_Fl
And how are you comparing that to the other classes? I think that is the real question: Where you OP or not compared to other classes? Also, nerfs come and go. Nothing to get worked up about, really. I'm just answering his particular question. My only point is that on average if you had 10% crit and surge making them hit for 70% more before the patch and 60% after, you went from getting 7% more damage to 6%, and you don't need a combat log to figure that out. You had a good idea, maybe an estimated figure. My question is: How can you know if the nerf is affecting you without having a combat log to see if it has? It would be willfully ignorant to suggest that the nerf to surge does not have an affect on any given class. Reducing the percentage of critical bonus granted by a set amount of Surge rating means that yes, every single character with 1 point or more of surge on their gear is affected by the nerf. I highly suspect you're attempting another one of your anti-meter crusades in the guise of trying to "trick" people into telling you why they "don't" need meters. Asavar
People actually do have an idea of how much damage they were doing when you see consistent numbers, aka "Averages". If the average pre-patch is different than the average post-patch, it's quite obviously noticeable.
mikepapz
My question is: How can you know if the nerf is affecting you without having a combat log to see if it has? Quite simple really. If I've lost 10% Surge then I've lost 10% damage to my criticals. (Will probably be less with averages but game keeps crashing so can't see for myself yet) Before patch: 3.3k damage with Sucker Punch crits. After patch: 3k damage with Sucker Punch crits. All self-buffed values of course. Fully grouped buffed, that loss from criticals will be higher. I personally have only lost 10% critical damage from the Surge nerf. Now imagine those who've lost a lot more than I. I'm not complaining about the Surge nerf myself but I'm just saying you don't need a combat log to see that it's affecting you. It will affect a lot of people, including healers and those who relied on Surge because Alactricty was bad for them as a stat. Nitrosnwbrdr
Going from 84% to 73% on my Combat Sent, it was easy to see how much damage I lost. Basically I know from experience how much damage my Blade Storm crit does with all my normal buffs going. So with that said I only noticed about 100-200 damage lose.
