Possible to craft mods better than Rakata-tier?

So yeah. One of my in-game buddies has discovered that Orange, moddable, belts and wrists are actually better than their Rakata-tier respectives when modded with Rakata-mods.

The Orange wrists and belts have two slots, one for Armoring and one for "Mod". If you're in the crew skill Cybertech u can make Rakata versions of these mods, which makes the stats higher than on Rakata respectives.

Now, I'm on Armormech and I've crafted both my Wrists and Belt to the [Exceptional] level, with one Augment slot. Still, the stats on these (at least on the wrists) are lower than what you would have with Orange wrists and crafted Rakata-mods. These mods made by Cybertech are also not BoP, so they're obviously going for sick prices on the market.

I mean, is this right or am I just completely missing something here? Isn't there like a higher level of crafting than the [Exceptional] that I've just got. And if so, how do I reach that level?

Thanks in advance

Your friend was either intentionally misleading you or just not properly informed. The best mods that can be crafted by cybertech are worse than the mods that can be obtained from doing the dailies on Ilum. The first raid tier are better than those mods, and Rekata are better than the first raid tier. Even with the added augment slot, the Rekata is still way better.

Now, if you can find an Armor mod that's Rekata level, and rip out the other Rekata mods, then technically you could put those into an orange piece that has an augment slot and it would be better, but you certainly can't craft mods of that level.

He's actually buying them from someone who has CT as a proffession. I myself haven't seen the actual mods yet, just my friends links of his Orange items which contain [58]-mods.

Next time my friend is online, I'm gonna ask him to link the actual mod so I can see the stats/name etc of it.

Apparently, the best Aim-mods grants you 61 aim, 51 endurance (Armoring) and 61 aim, 37 endurance, 11 power/crit ("Mod").

And, also. What's the difference between Exceptional, Advanced and Mastercraft crafted items? Stats-wise, I mean.

Tell your buddy to show you one BEFORE he equips them into his armor, so that

it would show the manufacturer's name. If he evades that simple request,

you know what to think of him ...

Hypothetically it is being rumored that higher tier mod schematics are supposed to drop in ops, would be cool if someone could finally deliver a screenshot.

Finally got a hold of this guy, and got him to post links on one of the mods.

These are, when put in belt and wrist and according to him, better than having Rakata-tier belt+wrist. There is, however, no good reason to have these mods in your Orange gear (apart from belt+wrist) other than deciding how you want your toon to look.

There is no "Made by X" marker because these are only found on some items, gear etc.

I found the mods on Torhead.com too btw,

Armoring:

http://www.torhead.com/item/2k3yxhO/advanced-reflex-armoring-25

Mod:

http://www.torhead.com/item/fCRXncG/advanced-agile-mod-25

So yeah, putting these two in an Orange Wrist/Belt would grant me

122 Aim

81 Endurance

11 Power/Crit

My current Wrist + Belt are crit-crafted Rakatas which grant me,

Belt:

131 Aim (incl. +28 Aim from Augment, base value is 103 Aim)

71 Endurance

11 Crit

Wrist:

113 Aim (incl. +28 Aim from Augment, base value is 103 Aim)

74 Endurance

37 Power

So yeah, there you have it. Though, I dunno if 7+ more Aim/7+ more Endurance is worth it for me tbh...

Damn, and here I thought there were new RAKATA schematics in the game for my Cybertech.

How dissapointing to find out that your friend didn't know what he was talking about.

So he just purchased them from someone who pulled them out of RAKATA gear that maybe just happened to be a Cybertech? Sounds most likely.

Mods, armoring and enhancements are getting dropped from Nightmare/HM ops so btw and i never saw any schemantic for armoring, mod or enhancement.

And no Columi implants & earpiece with augment slots are better than the rakata stuff. (not worse like someone stated above)...
