_Darkstar Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Hi all, I have a Sith Sorceror specced for DPS (0/17/24) so thought I would give healing a go on my Sage. However I am not sure I want to go down the pure healer route and forgo damage totally, this is mainly for PvP considerations (I refuse to respec constantly so want one build that can do PvE very well, and everything else well enough), but also because I like attacking My thoughts were to go up the Seer tree until I reached Resplendence which I hope will give me enough Force when I want to heal, and then to go up the Balance tree for Psychic Barrier and Telekinetic Balance, which should give me enough Force when I want to DPS. I am only in the teens so far, but does anyone have experience of this? Will I have enough Force for healing? Will I miss not having Salvation? http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600GGMRbdbdMZZsr0Ms.1
AcerLerxt Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 You typically don't go that deep into the healing tree unless you're going to pick up the AOE heal 31 pt talent. That's extremely useful for Ilum valor grinding, PvE operations, and unmolested voidstars, most of which you'll only do at 50. in reality, if you want effective heals for leveling and 10-49 FP's, all you need is the channeled 21 pt talent (innervate, i think the sith one is called). So, something like 21/0/20 makes for a good all around build with utility, easy force management, some dps, and adequate heals. You get instant multi-target CC, spammable channeled dps/snare, proc based burst, and decent heals. At 50, you decide if you want to heal, or dps full time.

_Darkstar Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 Without going all the way up to Resplendence I am pretty sure that I would run out of Force when healing operations or hard modes. At least that is what I have been told. If I wasn't taking those into consideration I would be looking at something similar to the 20/0/20 build though.

Indeed, you definitely will want Resplendence if you consider healing higher level Flashpoints and Warzones, otherwise you'll end up force starved and that's pretty much it. Very frustrating without, and depending on your group you will get to know how that feels like in some of the pre 30s Flashpoints already, because you have no other choice.
Delton Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I play 16/7/16 (other two points can go seer or balance) PvP (10-49 bracket) and solo PvE, and it's been awesome so far. You have a lot of utility to heal, dd, or cc, whatever is needed at the time.
GrandsonOfSam Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 (edited) Although my Sage is still waiting at level 24 for inspiration, I have been playing with the skill calculator quite a lot. My goal will be purely in PVE, as I have done my share in PVP in other games. The "soloing" spec is based mostly on extensive research on the forums and tweaked to my own playstyle, and is planned for using Qyzen as my companion: PVE Soloing 17/7/17 I don't claim it to be the best spec, but I think it will suit my own playstyle quite well. It is balanced between Healing, CC and DPS. Or it might gimp my toon badly... I wish there were 2 more skill points though for Presence of Mind and Mend Wounds... :-) I hope this spec will help give some thoughts or at least comments on points that would work better somewhere else. A pure healing spec would be quite a lot easier in any case. Edit: The plan is to get 2/2 in Immutable Force, then go 17 points deep in Balance, get -9% cost, and fill up Seer till I have 2 points in Conveyance. Then it's playing by what will be needed the most, unless of course I run into trouble earlier already and need to re-spec unexpectedly. ;-) Edited February 11, 2012 by GrandsonOfSam
