I do want to point out that from a service perspective you have far too much downtime with little to no forward notice to your customers. I work in a similar industry (note: Not games, cloud software) and I think you folks really need to learn something tonight about your architecture. You are releasing a server-side only change that requires 2 hours of client downtime. I think we (as a software industry) solved this problem years ago - and you folks should learn from this. Back in the mid 90's there was a running joke about NT - you move your mouse and you have to reboot. While funny - it was painstakingly obvious that the server product in question needed fixing and so the company that wrote that software did so. Tonight I logged onto "Server side fix; you are down as clients for two hours. This is taking software in the wrong direction. I strongly suggest you take the time out to figure out how to realign your framework to maximize client uptime in the event of server side upgrade needs. This is IT management 101. Come on guys.
