Read the press release and laugh or make up you're own mind what kind of people run this game.

**Below is my response to the other post if anyone care to ready it**

Wow just wow (No not the game, the verbal expression of disbelief). I know that’s suppose to be a positive spin press announcement, but still. Who ever wrote that most be living in there one little bubble of reality.

After reading the press release I think the “High Quality Service” refers to servers being up and running. And indeed they do that very. The server I play(ed) on have not crashed even once while I been online, but really that’s not “High Quality Service” that what I expect from a game I pay for.

”New Game Updates Drive Successful Start”. I’m sorry but what new game update? The bug fixing and one new Flashpoint mission (or was it 2 new FP?). In my opinion that’s setting the bar kinder low for a success.

The stuff about TOR getting all kinds of MMO of the year (2011), made me laugh. I think that says more about the people giving out the awards that anything else. TOR have been out for almost one and a half month. That’s hardly enough time to judge an MMO to be best of the year, unless it was the only MMO released.

“We’re truly honored and humbled by the incredibly strong support from our players who are enjoying Star Wars: The Old Republic,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder of BioWare and General Manager of EA’s BioWare Label. “Our entire team worked very hard over the holidays to deliver a smooth experience at launch, and the resulting response to the game from our fans and critics has been exceptionally gratifying.”

I’m just not sure what to say. He not reading these forums that for sure.

(Interesting so when mods edit your post it don't show, that just lovely)

You should seriously stop making stuff up. Seriously.

A US publicly listed company CANNOT lie in its press releases. The Securities and Exchange Commission regulates against "material misstatements" and "material omissions" in public filings, including press releases, by public companys. To do so may constitute a violation of Section 17(a) of the Securities Act of 1933, Sections 10(b) and 13(b)(5) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and Exchange Act Rules 10b 5 and 13b2-1.

If an investor puts money into EA (a lot of them do), and EA stock drops later, if the information contained in this press release can be considered false, you can expect people to lawyer up. EA's lawyers I'm sure carefully read the press release and sign-off prior to their release.

Protip: Reading the forums is pointless, a vocal minority of people who hate the game frequently visit and post on the forums while a clear majority of people who enjoy the game continue to play. Given that I do not see 1,000,000 or even close to 1,000,000 people posting daily that they hate the game, it is safe to say that you're all in the minority.

It's a PR release. Anyone looking for subjectivity in one of those needs to have their head examined. Come on.

As far as "meaning" , or using this as a predictor, it's a well known axiom that the shorter the measurement curve, the larger the potential deviation can occur.

Clearly the game didn't hemorrhage subs immediately , as the Tortanic hypothesis projected. (Which has to be the most tortured use to which the name of that thing has been put to yet. Tortanic, please, call me a damned waaah-bulance.)

On the other hand, I think there are severe and ongoing structural, design, and end-game issues that have yet to be addressed, and the patching situation is becoming ... erratic. Patch notes that aren't accurate, some people seeing radical improvements and others seeing ability delay pop up again, the most recent micro-freezing thing.. meh.

Doomsayers going on a month of game play at the buggiest point of any game's launch to say the game MUST fail are going to be proven wrong.

Boosters relying on a month of people willing to pay $15 to see what happens going onto say the game MUST suceed are also setting themselves up for a shock if Bioware can't rapidly address some core issues. March is the first make or break point we'll see.

Or maybe someone is reading these forums too much, and making believe that they're an accurate representation of the player base in any way. I think you know this, and you'll just be frustrated that I pointed it out at you, and probably someone will say something snide at me for it.

If you measure the game's success in comparison to other games in this genre, in any year, in any release... this one is easily in the top 5 for launches and post-launch success. We cannot judge its "middle" period yet, it has had no expansions and the game is still too young to judge the developers dedication to content updates and their frequency and quality.

And the long term? There are very few games that even have a long enough life to compare with. We have no idea how SWTOR will end, be it 5 months or 5 years from now...

I am reading these forums, but I think what you quoted is dead on.

The total of 10 people on my current planet I am playing on would like to know where these 1.7 million players are hiding...

kthx

Could be time zone, different planet, faction, or you just rolled the wrong server (in which case I sympathize with you and hope they implement server transfers soon).

Lol hopefully this will shut everyone up that thinks the population is shrinking fast.

This is a press release about subscription numbers fromm the company the one that everyone has been waiting for to see the sub numbers.

1.7 million people are playing, all the naysayers thought it would be welll below a million.

Way to go guys all your griping and moaning on the forums to try and get people to agree with you has done absolutely nothing and SWTOR is officially the second largest MMO in North america!

Ahh so all the players happy with this game use the Bug Report or Feed back window to say they are happy?

Yes I know not everyone go to forums and that a lot of people just read post and never post them self, but still. I’m not seeing a whole lot of community support here...

Maybe there is another TOR forum I just haven’t found where all this good and positive posts are, anyone have a link?

There is a huge difference between making a positive press-release and living in a bubble.

People who are happy are playing the game.

People who are butthurt come to the forums to bash anything and everything.

Simple as that

I'm pretty old and have been playing games before there where even forums for games. From the first forums that came around everyone has complained about every game non stop. Whether it was UO, WOW, Call of Duty, Battlefield opr SWTOR.

You really haven't noticed this?

Fifteen or twenty Trolls on the forums are usually ignored by the press and for good reason. The vast majority of people are loving TOR whether you choose to belive it or not.

Why would they read these forums. The majority of the posters here in the general forum are the malcontents or "wanna be" developers that represent a fraction of the players.

Count how many views this post gets and then divide by a million. Find the most viewed post post on this entire forum and divide by a million.
