What to do now?

I feel like I have a "feel" for the game, which was kinda new cause this was my first MMO. I think I've had a little taste of everything so far other than operations. Side stories are surprisingly more entertaining to go through than my class quest atm, and Heroics seems to be a fun way to get phat gear. TBH, the smuggler class quest reminds me of KoTOR where you had to go to 4 different planets to accomplish the same goal, although it certainly wasn't boring in any way. I am just level 28, so I may not know much... But, I have a few questions.

How exactly should I make my crew skills useful? I have lvl 140ish scavenging by just scanning random stuff all over. I have level 40 armstech, and all I can do is make stuff I don't need, and then Underworld trading, which I have no idea what purpose it serves.

I tried my hand at PvP, which I have fallen in love with... But, I have the tendency to die alot, so I'd like to avoid that alot more. I also end up consistently scratching my head where I should "tactically" or "strategically" place myself or do in relation to where my team is, where they are, and where the objective is. Examining the map, and the various classes and abilites, I doubt the answer to that is just take cover and shoot... came to the conclusion by thinking of what I ought to do in a Call of Duty Map, since I am coming form FPS here. So, some basic PvP advice would be appreciated.

Also, how to fight the boss on Cammidum (or whatever its called) flashpoint?

And what the heck is raiding? The way I understand it, it's a colloquial term for Heroics, Flashpoints, and Operations...

Oh, and what exactly happens on Alderaan, story wise? I mean, I just finished my smuggler class quest there, and the House Organa beating back House Thul quests, so now I am traveling around the place where you kill "Killiks." So, as of now, I am trying to go into a "pain factory." I just feel that, in comparison to Tatoooine, things finished rather quickly.

There, all the burning questions I currently had about TOR, out in the wild... responses welcome. :D

Take your time. Don't be in a hurry to get to 50, gets real boring. Get in good with the community, level some crew skills, and make money. Biochem/Bioanalysis are great together, and you might throw diplomacy on top. Bioware has their hands full trying to unfk they're "not so polished" mmo, might as well take your time while they work things out.

Sorry I couldn't answer more specific questions though o.o

You might want to try and get into a guild that uses some sort of communication tool. There are many casual guilds and it makes the game that much more MMOish :)

As far as PvP goes you should learn strafing(map your A and D to streafe left and right), mapping all your skills to hotkeys(do not forget you can use Shift + another key) and also don't forget you can map mouse wheel up and down for your most commonly used abilities like shooting etc.

Also learn about resolve and enable it from Preferences/UI. It is very important in PvP.

Learn about the different roles classes have. Damage types and what is your damage output is also important. There is sustained damage and burst damage, which one you are going for. Also, learn about DoTs (damage over time abilities) as well as CC(stuns, roots, etc.) and your CC breaker.

Equipment is also very important, try to stay on a course. You can go Power/Alarcity or Crit/Surge. With power/alarcity build you will hit strong and fast, but with crit/surge you will hit less but double damage.

I can say something about the crew skills. I have the same you do and Underword Trading is the one where you get some of the mats you need to make gear using your Armormech. Also it has a chance to give you patterns and especially custom (orange) gear patterns. When you make gear and dont wanna wear or sell it you should use the reverse engineering button on your inventory to get some of the mats back and a chance to get better pattern for that same gear. Greens can give blues and blues can give epics.

I found this guide from this forums.

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=530

I tend to check the GTN (Galactic Trade Network) to see if someone is selling orange pattern cheap and I craft those gear and sell them in GTN. With orange gear players can create the looks of their char so they tend to sell pretty well. Also blues and sometimes greens sell too cos ppl get new companions and buy gear for those.

For me the most important and fun part of MMOs is the social aspect. So I would advice you to find a nice social and fun guild. It might take couple of tries to find a guild just for you, but theres loads of different types of guilds. Also if you know now you like pvp you might wanna start looking for a guild wich does pvp too. In guilds just try to take a part of guild chat converstions and use vent/mumble/teamspeak or other voice chat and you get to know your guildies more easier. Also you get lots of help in guilds too.

Raiding is the term used traditionally in MMOs for large parties, in swtor the equivalent is operations. There are other similar terms, like auction house - galactic trade network, token - commendation and so on. Some have been used in just about every MMO, some are from individual game, most likely wow.
