Why even make mods craftable?

So I have been wasting away on Artifice to get the purple enhancement for my tanker and I do my daily in Ilum and get something just as good or better for doing an easy quest. One that is repeatable to boot.

 

Why even make this stuff craftable if you are going to basically give it away at 50?

So Cybertech can make better mods than otherwise available all the way up to level 49, thats 49 levels you can use it and you call it pointless I don't understand your logic.

 

Really, so what? This isn't a hard game. You can use the mods from commendations and quests and level just fine. I know I did. I have Cybertech and I almost never made my own mods. They were always being handed to me for free, or for commendations that I had plenty of.

 

It's not until you reach end-game that you need to worry about building up your gear. They could remove all the crafted mods tomorrow and it would make little difference, at any level.

Because 1-49 its not really need. The games give you plenty of stuff lvling. Either from comendatin vendors or quest rewards.

 

This is hogwash. A tired meme that just isn't true. You have what, 14 gear slots? You get upgrades for 2-4 of them through commendations each quest zone. And quest rewards, for the most part, are garbage compared to what you could buy/make at any given level.

 

Many people, after experiencing the game through a couple times, like to gear their alts heavily to make the leveling process quicker. The absolute best way to do this is by buying gear as they level, period.

Sure, you can spend a billion credits on the best gear while leveling. Which gets replaced by quest greens on the next planet, or you have to spend a billion more.

 

In the meantime, you sure killed that group of mobs 1.02 seconds faster than me in my greens!

 

 

So, again ... what's the point?

MAKE THE EARPIECES.... Most people are running around with RARE ear pieces cause theres no Freebee earpieces.. even the Daily ones cost like 150.

 

Make the right earpiece.. sell it for 100k

 

Same goes for Implants... inspect level 50's those slots are always crap.

Some people like making their own gear. It doesn't have to be the absolute best there is, there is simply satisfaction in making it for yourself.

 

That's the point.

 

Some other people still don't understand that their personal idea of fun isn't a universal constant. Raiders complain that crafting is pointless. Crafters don't complain that raiding is pointless. Go figure.

I always love crafting in MMORPGs but crafting in TOR IS pretty pointless (may be with the exception of bio). It doesn't have to provide 'the best' stuffs but the crafted items SHOULD be needed/required, along WITH QUEST REWARDS. (I'm not gonna explain how it's done here, just take a look at other MMOs)

 

You can bluff yourself by telling yourself that it comes with a great sense of achievement/satisfaction or whatever you want to label it to craft your own gear but with that much trouble, people wind up feeling stupid after the first 10 levels.

 

There's a huge problem with the crafting system if crafted items are redundant.

Because its suppose to be fun to craft your own. Its suppose to be another aspect of the game, to where you have a choice of the daily, or crafting your own.

 

Something is wrong though. I'm failing on level 13 green items to the extent that its cheaper to spend 5k on the GTN then work my crafting and waste hour upon hour re-farming mats only to fail yet again, and again....then repeat the process over and over.

 

This game is awesome in so many respects, but crafting has gone off the deep end. Crafting is not about challenge, its about fun. Fun is never a by-product of failure.
