The "I use all my abilities" thread.

Im not complaining in this thread, just need some advice.

I find myself using almost alll of my abilities as a scoundrel. Its gotten to the point that I have to point and "click" my way into a few abilites.(After using close to 18 seperate keys for menubar abilites, i have reached my "level of enjoyment". I just cant remember the key for every ability. Id like to think I play my character to the max, but thought maybe im using abilities that suck outright. So the advice Im seeking is, do i have to expand my hotbar keys even further(or buy a special mouse), or should I trim my ability list.

Can anyone tell me abilities to never use, the abilities to use in there place, and the reasons why. Im just looking to reduce the number of keys i have to only hit when i really need them.

currently I destroy in PvP. Though I dont welcome the nerf, i will take it as a challenge. I just want t prime my game before I am forced to L2P again.

Start by listing the abilities that you are using regularly, your "rotation", etc. I did end up buying a Razr Naga to compensate for the large amount of abilities. Most of my situational stuff is bound to those buttons and my main combat abilities on my Nostromo.

I use 3.5 full bars. So 42 or so keybound abilities. Some of those are items (2 relics, health pack and adrenal.)

I can't think how you could possibly use less than 18, even just in a single warzone.

It's a lost cause. If you don't have enough keys available, move wasd movement to esdf movement and bind all the accessible keys, all the mouse keys and then all of them with shift as a modifier. That's what I do.

I guess the naga is an alternative.

This is the best thing I ever did. Moving your movement buttons to esdf opens up alo of easy access toolbars. Also setting some of your unused mouse buttons to modifiers (shift, alt, ctrl) also helps a great deal.

as a jedi consular (healer) i use about 12 at the most, normally just 4-5 for lesser fights but if i am against a champion/gold with guards it requires using a full bar (heals more often than the others but all 12 are used at some point)

i cant imagine using more than 14 for anything - far too much hassle, i prefer to use the number keys only so the class works perfect for me with very few reasons to use more then the one bar

im far from the best player but i can solo missions meant for 4 people if i need to so i must be doing ok (at normal questing level) so if u are struggling maybe u should look into a different class :)

Nah. Keybinding ALL my important abilities was the best thing I did. Found some things a bit tough before I did. Afterwards it has all been very easy.

The hardest part is mapping them. Learning the mappings is easy and you'll thank yourself for doing so.

Without many mouse buttons, you'll have to use shift/ctrl as modifiers a lot.

It's definitely worth keybinding every ability you use. Try expanding your current keybinds and using modifier keys like shift and control (both for keyboard and for mouse buttons). I have 36 abilities keybound for PVP with a few that I swap out for PVE-only (to avoid 40+ keybinds) and use every single one of them over the course of a warzone.

I also have everything bound to the keyboard. The only exception was the week I spent scrapper spec, and I didn't really need Quick Shot.

1. Rebind WSAD to ESDF.

2. Heals are on all the nearby letters: AQWRTGYH

3. Attack powers: 1-9

4. Osiht buttons: Alt + 1-9

5. CC powers: Control + 1-9

Most mice have a forward and back button, so rebind those to Alt and Control. I use middle click for stealth, and a few numpad buttons for lesser-used non-combat things like Speeder Bike, Lucky Shots or Recuperate.

Good luck.

I use:

Main bar: 1,2,3,4,5,6,Q,E,R,F,C,Z

Bottom bar: Shift + above

Left bar: Alt + above

With this, most combinations are easily accessible, and those that aren't are my emergency buttons.

I don't even use the right bar for anything but items, buffs, and quick travel.
