Which AC is right for me?

I am currently playing a consular and I am having a rough time choosing an advanced class.

SOME BACKGROUND ON ME:

I have a level 35 sith sorcerer that I really enjoy playing so with sage being the same class pretty much I know I would have fun with it but do I really want to roll another?

Also I have never played a stealthy class in any mmo ever so I'm not sure if I would do alright with a shadow but I really like the double blade lightsaber look and the stealth does look like it could be fun.

WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME:

I've heard of very many shadows re rolling as a sage because shadows are not really needed too much for group work and that healers are always in demand.

I've also heard that they really just are not that fun.

So idk what to do. I really like the healer classes and sages have some dope looking moves but I already have a sorcerer. Shadow would be fresh for me and I really dig the double blade but are they actually fun? Any advice would be great. Thanks so much all.

I have played a Jedi Sage to 50, a Sith Assassin to 50, and I am currently rolling around on a level 48 Jedi Shadow (yeah I thoroughly enjoy the Consular/Inquisitor archetype). My Assassin is rank 58 and my Sage has finished all of HM EV/KP.

Shadows are actually barely a stealth class. We only have one ability that requires us to start off from stealth, and that ability is really only useful in PvP. Aside from that the only reason to use stealth is for Infiltration's Shadow's Respite talent or to sneak past mobs.

For this reason it may actually be a good class for you to see if you like stealth. If you decide you do not like the stealth mechanic then you can pretty much ignore the ability altogether.

Personally I like the Shadow gameplay. It is incredibly proc heavy no matter which spec you choose (Although Infil has the least dependence on chance) but overall it is a fun class to play. Balance can be especially fun with it's variety of 30m range abilities making you closer to a "long-range melee" than any other class (except maybe a Vanguard). Kinetic Combat is also very interesting because it supports hybrid builds that have very high survivability while retaining much of the DPS from the other specs.

The first part of this sentence is simply untrue. Shadows may not have the absolute highest damage or survivability (although the margins are generally pretty slim, for example my guild uses a Kinetic tank and he has never had problems tanking HM bosses in EV or KP), but they do have the most versatility of any class, especially in PvP. Any Shadows you've come across that say they rerolled because Shadows are not useful quite simply did not know how to play their class.

Ultimately, the cliche line is that it's your choice. As someone who has played both AC's I can say that I personally prefer the Shadow over the Sage, but both are still really fun and neither is underpowered if played properly.

Dear god do not roll shadow it is so boring, all it is is spamming double strike with the occasional project or force crush, it is soooooo terribly boring, sage has tons of hybrid potential and tons of different roles, so much funner.

This coming from someone who played shadow in beta up to 18 or so, played shadow at launch as first char up to 31 before realizing it was terrible.
