Tadshackles
I am under the impression that level 10 orange gear with three slots is 100% the same as level 50 orange gear with the exception of the model and w/e mods are in it. That said. IF I were to buy the entire level 10 cloth social 1 set, I would never need new pieces for those slots right? (other than desiring a new model and changing the mods of course)
Tadshackles
I should also add, I am an inquisitor so the light armor applies.

Tadshackles
ahh yes of course, set bonuses... Thank you. BRB spending 2k creds on gear worth 10 times as much...
SnapWolf
Orange gear is basically vanity gear. You only change the mods to keep it up-to-date.
Syylara
ahh yes of course, set bonuses... Thank you. BRB spending 2k creds on gear worth 10 times as much... They are considering a new system where you can remove the mods from the endgame stuff and tying the set bonus to one of the mods rather than the gear itself. The 2k creds only buys you the appearance, you still have to earn/buy the mods to put in it and keep it up to date.

I'm not max level yet, and I'm really just a casual player. But I've got to ask: Is the end-game gear exclusively purple, or does it have some Orange items or possible mods, armorings and enhancements? Because if end-game gear is exclusively purple, then I believe that a system to tie a set bonus to a mod will probably be a little OP...

Endgame gear is purple, but problem is, most that endgame gear is F'ing ugly. The Endgame Gear also have 2 mods, while Armor mod slot is built directly into the end game gear. I like idea for us to be able to remove the mods & move set bonuses over other Mod gear, because as is. Everyone going look exactly the same(Ugly), without the option, Modable gear becomes moot(I hate looking like my shoulders are build for me to take flight & my head gears 5x size of my body, etc..), after Operations & Hard modes. va_wanderer
Mind you, the devs have said that the current state of affairs will be changing: The current situation with end game gear and item modifications isn’t final and, in fact, many community members like yourself have correctly guessed at what our plans to correct the current design are. Since this is a fairly important issue to many players, let me disclose more details about what is currently in the work regarding purple items and mods: - All partially moddable purple items will be made fully moddable again, allowing the removal of the armoring, hilt and barrel. - The set bonus of end gear purples (PVP and PVE) will be transferable to custom items. - Some item modifications will be restricted to a certain item type. For example, some item modifications will only fit on helmets, while other will only fit on chests, etc. As usual, the caveats about unfinished work apply, but this should give you and the community a very good idea of our intentions. We are serious about making custom gear an entirely valid alternative to end game gear and we support the players’ ability to customize their appearance all the way to (and including) end game. Emmanuel Lusinchi Technical Design Director Star Wars: The Old Republic So yes, soon enough you'd be able to have an SI in that social armor with fully endgame mobs, if you liked the look. Right now, it's a perk for the light armor classes that you can quickly get a full orange set to mod. (Of course, keeping those mods up to date can be costly, but hey. That's what selling loot is for...)
Tadshackles
My main is a cybertech and another alt is artifice so I have my run of mods (up to mid game anyways) all orange at 10 is > anything synthweaving can do so...
Bead
On all my toons I have hold on to modable gear while leveling and pretty much only use the commendations from leveling to buy mods so it really doesn't cost me much. Also running FPs to find new orange gear and/or get a bunch of at level mods is helpful as well. They do need to fix the light armor social gear thing. All they really need to do is make every set come in light/medium and heavy armor types without changing their looks. CharagonIGN
By the time you get to 50, they'll probably have fixed the system so you can take mods out of epic gear and put them into your modded gear (complete with set bonuses). At least, they better have.
