Animation delay still very much an issue

This issue has been all over the beta forums for half a year. If they could fix it in a timely fashion they would have.

It's absolutely outrageous that a game with this budget and hype, in development for such a long time... is released with an issue like this

They can't fix it. If they could it would have been fixed by this point.

That's not necessarily true. Bioware's coders are horrible, but they might fix the issue eventually. Although I can't see them fixing it without bringing up 10 more issues in its place.

I would rather it simply cut the previous animation short to start the next ability.

Even if it looked odd it would be better than now.

With healing abilities it can be really bad on my sorc, if I start chain casting different heals together some of them don't start at all because the previous animation is still happening.

As you guys have noticed (and probably read in the patch notes), one major part of our series of ability delay improvements was patched onto the live servers with the maintenance last night (patch 1.1.0b). We decided that the improvements seen with this fix were significant enough for us to roll this patch out as quickly as possible instead of waiting for the next scheduled patch.

Your feedback from the servers so far indicates that this change has had dramatic, positive impact on combat gameplay.

That said, we're not done improving combat responsiveness!

  • As mentioned in my blog a few days ago, there are some additional fixes currently on our public test server as part of patch 1.1.1, which will roll out as soon as we're satisfied with that patch.

  • We've heard your mixed feedback regarding the new cooldown animation that was part of patch 1.1, and we have improvements to the readability of that UI coming down the pipe.

  • We're looking into improving the accuracy of cast bars. Their behavior should already be significantly improved with today's patch, but we believe there is still room to improve.

  • We're also working on improvements to the responsiveness of individual ability animations, including faction specific timing differences and issues where shortening an ability activation time does not properly shorten it's animation.

Again, thank you for your constructive feedback on this issue, it has been vital to us in identifying and resolving this situation.

Regards

Georg

It'll be fixed, its not unfixable

Just had a game of warzone and was frustrated that my character couldn't pull off moves smoothly.

Just had to stop playing for a while.

Rail shot icon was up, slammed it but nothing.

Came up real close like touching the enemy, spammed rocket punch, but nothing until about 4 seconds later....

Died horrible deaths, and prolly the enemy player reckons I'm a total noob... I don't blame him.

I wish the most outrageous thing in my life was animation delay. *sigh* Some people get all the luck.

This forum is for discussing the game. Whether yours or anyone else's life is full of roses or outrageous has absolutely no relevance. Enough with the ******** responses.

I have given up on warzones and PvP, high fps, as well as playing a healer, where you get target marked = 20 minutes of watching your slow motion slideshow of death again and again.
