Healer with which companion?

I am planning on making my alt now, and have decided on leveling a Operative healer. I know that leveling as a healer will be a little slower, so i was wondering which companion is best for optimum speed kill? (spoilers is ok) I know the first companion we get is a ranged tank i believe, is she the best to use through the whole game? or are there others?

Thank you

The ranged tank you start with has a *very* strong, very dark personality. I think she's fantastic, others can't abide her. She is fairly capable as a tank (as much as any companions are).

Your 2nd* and 4th companions are DPS (melee and ranged, respectively). Most people like these two quite a bit. Personally, on my 46 medic, I switch between that ranged tank and the ranged DPS character, depending on the encounter (I use the tank for elites). For optimum speed, the DPS characters are both a big boost. Both of them are quite capable.

The 3rd companion is a healer. He's an excellent healer, and people who are not medic specced find him quite useful.

* I'm not considering the ship's robot

i used kaliyo all the way to my 40's and now i use temple for pretty much everything (dailys). believe it or not i find it easier for me to tank the elites while she burns them down. and, yeah, for some reason a lot of people don't like kaliyo's personality, i love it myself and wish all my companions were *** bad *** as she is,

Temple.

Why?

1. She uses Agent gear - give her all your hand-me-downs. HealerLokin wears Agent gear too, but you don't want to use a healer companion if you're heal specced. Easiest to keep geared, by far.

2. Her stances are bugged right now - Assault and Sniper mode are both activated if you put her in Assault stance, dismiss her, and resummon her. Because of this, she does the most damage of any companion

Kaliyo's a solid choice too, but as a healer, you really shouldn't have problems keeping your companion up. IMO, her added survivability isn't enough to make up for the damage you lose from picking Temple.

You get your 2. companion very late - so you have to use Kalyo for a long time.

But the good news: For a medic Operative she is a perfect companion! (imo)

Also try out, if you need her in Tank stance - I prefer to use her in DPS stance... as a healer I have no trouble keeping us alive and still dealing dps left and right, while she kills 1 mob after the other very quickly.

Temple and Scorpio will come in your 40s... try them out and choose. Its a matter of taste and equipment.

I used the Melee character you receive, which would be your second companion [not counting the robot.] The bonus to him is outside of one attack, every move he has is Single Target, which mean he will -never- break your Sleep Dart'ed Target, or your Droid CC. His damage is actually rather high as well, with a shield he can pop during low Hp situations.

They are all situational, but if you just want a good tank, either kaliyo or scorpio are good. I've been 50 for a bit and in a progression guild, so i have kaliyo in mostly columni gear and purple mods in all of scorpio's gear. I can solo the daily heroic 4-man "old enemies" using either of the tank pets as an operative healer. If i am just doing non-heroics, ensign is great. Edited by stinkybits

As a 50 medic (leveled the entire way as medic) I use 2 companions. I used Kaliyo up till vector for sheer lack of choice. Once I got vector I switched to him as a heals and dps companion we have almost no down time (and mobs die ALOT faster). For elites I effectively "tank" the elite, hot myself up and occasionally throw surgical probe myself. Most of the time I just dps and throw hots on either of us in between pulls.

Once I got Ensign Temple at Hoth I switched to her since, as previously mentioned, she wears the same gear (and benefits from Alacrity since most of her stuff are casts). I use the same strategy as I do with vector dps wise. Currently she is carrying all my pvp gear while I wear my pve gear, so she acts like a gear mule, but for doing dailies she DESTROYS mobs. Most standard mobs get 1-2 shot by her now.

As I said earlier, I use 2 companions, and the other is Scorpio not Vector. Geared out Scorpio I use her to tank some of the heroics at max level dailies, like Old enemies, where I can stealth to Lord Raxxus, and then two man it with Scorpio tanking.

Edit: On a side note; Temple > Kaliyo because temple has HAIR.

I tried this today, and I was unable to duplicate it.

Temple all the way. AT 40+ she stays alive just as easily at Kaliyo and does way more damage. Her range keeps her out of trouble as I mop up the weak mobs. My hots and surgical probe keep her alive against the silvers and golds I put her on until I pull aggro with my superior melee damage and finish tanking the mobs myself.

Once you start seeing Temples 2-3k hits along with her other crazy pistol and nade spam you won't go back. Also her defensive cool down keeps her alive longer than Kaliyo for those few seconds and her offensive cooldown is the best of any companion (with shortest cooldown). She also scales the best with gear at higher level (not to mention she gets your hand me downs).

Now I haven't geared Vector since late 30's and will someday when time and money are available (currently grinding for my 49 purple cybertech recipes to update my companions). I still want to gear him up and I like the story behind that companion and he looks damn cool in combat and can wear some cool sets.

I've almost exclusively used Vector since I got him, I find him to be able to withstand incoming damage a bit better than Kaliyo ever was so that I can usually dps in the pulls. Elites, I usually hot him up, send him in, get off a couple of grenades and other shots and then just keep him healed while he takes down the mob.

I should give Temple a try though. I keep all of my oranges, so I've got plenty of gear to keep her fairly well geared.
