Please punish warzone deserters

I think that its lame that people leave warzones at the slightest hint that their team is losing, and then can join another warzone right away. Sometimes they'll end up back in the same warzone and then leave again, increasing the time the team is shorthanded. Also, usually when one person leaves, multiple people do which means you pretty much lost the warzone right there.

15-30 min debuff would probably be fine.

If you end up on a terrible team then tough luck. Take the loss like a man or try and do something about it.

The only thing that would do is prompt those who hate the WZ to afk the whole damn thing, resulting in even WORSE situations.

Leave it as it is, you can still win even when others quit.

I doubt it's any more annoying for you than it is for me being forced to play my 7th consecutive round of huttball against a premade and surrounded by people who haven't yet figured out how to:

A. Pass the ball.

B. Find the opposing ball carrier.

C. Do anything to protect the friendly ball carrier.

If they leave a warzone they get nothing for it, so they have essentially wasted whatever time it took to wait through the queue and however long before they decided to quit.

The real issue are the people who afk in warzones and do absolutely nothing, yet still reap the xp, credit, commendations, and valor for their lack of effort. People who AFK in a warzone, should get nothing, period.

So what precautions you suggest for people who crash in warzones, so they don't end with a 15-30min debuff ontop of losing out on win they would otherwise have had, as this has happened for me 2times in last few days at least?

Ultimately, even punishing the people who crash is preferable to allowing abusers.

I suppose at the least, they need to put a debuff on people who desert, more than crash. But then everyone would just Crash out - I suppose a stacking debuff is the best option. First crash, 5 minute penalty, 1 stack for 24 hours ('Deserter')... Second stack, 15 minute penalty, so on and so forth.

In the end, the OP has a point, and many MMO's use this because it's impossible to control people ditching out otherwise. You don't get punished for losing Warzone's badly (1-49, at least), so I don't see why you'd ditch out, anyways.

When you reconnect you are placed into the same game. If you take too long to reconnect, you get the debuff. That's how other games handle it.

There are legitimate reasons for leaving. But in the end, no one really has the authority to determine if someone should stay in a warzone or not.

So, don't punish people for leaving, instead reward those that stay. Give more credits, valor, exp, etc. Make it worth their while for fighting a fight against the odds.

And what do we do about error code 9000 that randomly disconnects players and immediately removes them from the warzone? Should we give them a debuff because they got dc'd? And what about when players get stuck in the floor or in a wall should they just stick around and not help the team so they don't get a debuff? Not everyone that leaves is because the team is losing.

I never got back into a WZ even when i actually logged back in very fast, was always send out to fleet station, lat always had a red icon just before the WZ disconnected me, i imagine it was actual WZ crashing and not just me getting disconnected.

um no, you won't be punishing me for bailing on a Warzone when the team has no idea what they're doing. Why should I waste 10+ minutes being the only person trying to play the warzone when no one else cares, or knows what they're doing?

You try to help, give out pointers, and the little spaz's attack you like you groped their mother.

If you let someone planet a bomb within 1 minute or less of the start of a voidstar I am gone.

If you don't zerg the ball carrier/assist your carrier in huttball, I am gone.

If you don't stay grouped, defend and attack like a group in Alderann I am gone.

I am tired of wasting mine time with people who don't care. I am not an elitist, I just know that these warzones aren't that hard, and if you like the capacity to manage them, then it is not worth my time.

I entered a civil war yesterday where we had mid and the west nodes and people were leaving, we had a 10 pt lead. In a few minutes there was only 3 repubs left and then people started joining. I have not figured out why people were leaving a winning game.

Also, this is a video game. Video games are about fun. There should be no talk about punishing a player within a video game (aside from breaking EULA rules). Video games are about fun, and I shouldn't have to feel like I'm in school where I get punished for certain things.

I'm fine with losing warzones. I get valor, commends and credits either way. I'm confused as to why people leave because you still get rewarded for losing.

Its even more confusing when people leave when its obvious the game is going to be over in like 30 seconds.

What about a debuff that reduces valor and commedation. And is stackable. 10% loss per zone you leave and last an hour and is reset every time you leave. Right now for the past 2 weeks it is takeing about 5-6 hours to get 3 wins. i do not bail. And every game that looks like a loss tend to have about 3-4 people bail right when it could be turned around.

So screwing over teammates should be allowed? Ruining the game for others is ok so long as you have fun?
