marTHCi
The reason why Empire side is overpopulated is that: - Empire gear sets look much much better than Republic gear Jedi Sage's engame pve gear looks ridiculous. I wonder whose idea was to put it in. I'm a man, with a gear even Queen Amidala wouldn't wear, it looks that awful. - Empire animations are much better. As comparison: Jedi Consulars throw .. wait for it .. PEBBLES as one of their most powerful attacks, while Sith Inquisitors have a ****** Force Lightning. I can't say anything about quests, I never played Empire, Republic quests are fine for me even with all the lame answers I can give during dialogues. I guess these two things are the reason people rolled Empire. Please, change awful looking gears (you can read on the forums that nobody likes them), and please, consider to change some animations (many people ask that). Raximillian
Dark/light choices are more meaningful empire side :S I would have to say even story is better on the empire. I have not played many republic flashpoints, but Black Talon is far superior to Esselex. In BT We get to take on a wounded bship with our little transport while kicking butt and taking numbers. Esselex? We get to barely run away from the empire with our tails between our legs... I'm not sure about the other republic side flashpoints but the first one we get to see, empire wins hands down. I guess these two things are the reason people rolled Empire. Please, change awful looking gears (you can read on the forums that nobody likes them), and please, consider to change some animations (many people ask that). I have to wholeheartedly disagree with this: - Empire sets look much better if you like playing Sith. The Republic sets look as you would expect them to for light-side Jedi, Troopers, or Smugglers. Jedi look like monks or priests. Troopers wear practical body armor with dents, scraped paint, and grit. Smuggler's wear dusters like cowboys and bomber jackets akin to 1940s WWII combat/bomber pilots. This is accurate to the Star Wars universe. - Disagree. Force Lightning is rather boring to me and doesn't have the same satisfaction as tossing an astromech droid at someone's face. The rumbling as you rip a rock from the ground coupled with the subsequent SMASH as it knocks them senseless makes me want to play a Sage over a Sorcerer any day of the week. Unfortunately, these are opinions and nothing more. Mine versus yours. If more people share your opinion than mine, it's inconsequential. There are many other reasons why people choose the Empire. A good friend of mine plays Sith simply because he wants to roleplay a light-side Sith Assassin trying to change things from the inside. He agrees with Imperial efficiency, but is against the Sith's philosophy of wanton destruction, xenophobia, genocide, and slavery. Any good Sith should know that there are other emotions besides hate and a lust for darkness that are just as important, if not more so. Love, sadness, happiness...if you want to live by the true Sith code, all are important. This is not a stylistic choice for him, but instead a philosophical choice. In short...different strokes for different folks. Everyone has their reasons, but they are not all the same. Me? I'd rather play Republic. sinsur
Imperial: Everything is blackish, suposed to be b.a.d.a.s.s. and evil. Fleet looks like its expencive with its blackish shiny looks. Republic: everything is brown and orange (are there more unpopular/disliked colors?) The fleet looks like its old and rusted metal....... There is a rumor sins beta that imp is actualy overpowering republic factionbalancewise... Surprise everyone plays imp! :X Edited January 26, 2012 by sinsur
Draksen
Paradoxical but: if you like the Stormtroopers of the first trilogy, the clones of the second trilogy and the Clone Wars animation series (my case) play a republic trooper. I'd go even further, the closest thing to the Empire of Darth Vador and Palpatine is the Republic of the game. The military of the Empire of the trilogy is based in the Republic military. The Sith Empire of the game, is nothing else than a big sect, with goth looking junkies, doing evil things for the pleasure to do evil things. I dont even know how someone can roleplay that without being in urgent need to see a doctor. Also playing the republic doesnt make you part of a "big scheme evil" like the empire and you can be pretty free rp wise (smuggler for instance). As for the "the empire looks cool" I dont agree at all! Like I said above they look like gothic teenagers with red eyes (ah marijuana), or bad characters of Harry Potter. Nothing attractive for me in them, really nothing. Edited January 26, 2012 by Draksen
Bazkraal
I don't think the Republic classes look bad at all. The Jedi look like monks from lvl 15 and at 30 ish monks with armor plates and from 45-50 panzerwagon-monks with exceptions of course. Troopers look like clone troopers and smugglers always look unique somehow... I think the problem for some people is that end game armor may not look super nice. But as a synthweaver I don't really care since I could just make a prototype set with whatever lvl 40 gear I think look good and stick with it even though it probably wont be as good as pvp gear
Vyrion
You're complaining about consular armor? Have you seen Inquisitor armor? It's literally a starfish suit. The Rakata version is even light red, all the better to roleplay Patrick. Also the assassin helm is quite possibly the worst helm in the game. Although it takes away the top point of the starfish that sorcs have, it is also a really thick padded hood with cow horns on it. It's awful. The reason more people play Empire probably has more to do with the source material than the game, people tend to really love the evil characters, and in my opinion Palps and Vader were always more interesting than Han and especially Luke who just seemed bland. I remember always rooting for the Empire as a kid, and so I play Empire now and I really doubt I'm alone in this.
