Shadow or Sentinel?

I have always been an in your face type of player. I have a lvl 35 trooper, but I am thinking it isn't for me. I really want to focus on both pve/pvp as I get to 50. I do not have a ton of time to run multiple characters. Out of those two which would be better off in the long run? Also who has better dps and survivability? Edited by jwtiger

You aren't going to get a definitive answer to your question, because there are no combat logs, there are still significant bugs that impact performance and no one knows what will happen once they're fixed, etc.

That being said, Sentinel requires a lot more attention and interaction than Shadow. I think this would unanimously (or as close to unanimously as you can get in a world where 4% of people claim to have been abducted by aliens) be agreed on. If you enjoy playing the class, you call this "knowing your priorities", "paying attention", "reacting", etc.; if you wish it was as straightforward as playing other classes, you call it "work", "poor design", etc.

Shadow has the advantage of having two spcs, so you can always choose to tank at a later date. If you're positive you never want to tank, then that isn't an advantage, and may even be a disadvantage, since it will be one less tree you can specialize in.

I like my Sentinel so much that I rolled a Maurader on a different server to play with my friends on the weekend. On the other hand, my alt is a Shadow, and so far he's extreme Easy Mode compared to the experience I had leveling my Sentinel. I personally don't like how easy Shadow is (so far), and find him a bit boring, but of course your mileage may vary.

Imo, shadow. Hands down.

Shadows have good melee, stealth, backstab, short ranged offensive spells and plenty of CC. It's such a fun class to play. Sentinels pretty much only have force leap and good melee. In the end it depends what you want to do. The sentinel is the squishiest class in the game though, while the shadow is a tank class..

The only reason I'd recommend the sentinel over the shadow is if you'd rather look at two lightsabers than one double bladed one. :)
