I've heard that bioware based the assassin of Maul but is this really true or just a theory? Personally i don't think Maul was an Assassin at all cuz they are of the inquisitor class and they are cunning where as warriors are rage. and when i think of a sith that has rage, i can't think of a sith with more RAGE than maul. I mean the dude out dueled obi wan and qui gon and qui gon was ranked number 3 in the council behind windu. So what you guys think? Was he a marauder or an assassin? im gonna go with a marauder

The assassin class is based of Darth Maul. Which really means that Darth Maul isn't an assassin, the assassin is trying to be like him.

But if anything he is more Inquisitor than Warrior. If you notice, he doesn't actually get angry during the fight, he doesn't lose control. Also he does the little seethe thing when the shields close (then again that skill for the Inquisitor was probably based off that scene).

He was based off the Assassin.

no, the assassin was based off him.

He doesn't resemble any of the classes, because none of them were what anyone in the movies was based on.

He would fit in as a Sith Warrior with a double bladed lightsaber. He was more reliant on his combat practices than the force.

Sith Warrior = Saber Masater

Sith Inquisitor = Force Master

This game is completely separated from the movies when it comes to class. They just flung crap together and where it stuck, it stuck.

there were a lot of great points in reading all this and i can def see him being assassin with the "seethe" ability and how he doesn't "lose his cool" but i think he never lost his cool just because he was so damn CONFIDENT. Hell he was over confident, he toyed around with obi-wan when he coulda easily thrown his saber at him when he was hanging on a ledge. I def agree with the whole belief that he isnt an assassin but that the assassin character is BASED off him. Hell if i had to classify him, he'd be a sith warrior assassin. Cuz He had no force powers to speak of lol

Actually the Sith Assassin uses the double bladed saber, whereas sith warriors don't. Sith Inquisitors have 2 ACs, one of which is more melee-oriented.. i.e. the assassin. Plus even sith warriors have force abilities. The Rage tree uses quite a few rage abilities as their key damaging abilities.

The assassin backstab ability is called "Maul"

Seethe thing

Double-bladed lightsaber

More robey armor

I'm going with assassin.

how about obi wan in new hope?

not sure what you're talking about, unless you mean he just took his robes off, used an in-combat stealth, and creeped on luke for the rest of the trilogy...oh, i get the movies now!

I'd figure it was pretty obvious to see that Darth Maul inspired the Sith Assassin to have a tanking tree. I mean, go watch that fight between Maul, Obi Wan, and Qui Gon again. He pretty much tanks the both of them until he can thin the herd.

I agree that IF Maul was a class from TOR, he'd be a Darkness (tank spec) assassin. He was on the defensive during most of the 2 on one and he still dropped one.

Well imo Darth Maul would be more of a warrior than an Assassin

Maul used the Juyo form (marauder)

Double bladded saber (Assassin)

I really don't like the way this game selects weapons for most classes.

So imo the closest thing to Darth Maul in swtor would be a Marauder with a Double bladded saber....... yeah i know never going to happen.

While hes deactivating the Tractor Beam, he used the force to make himself invisible to the eyes of the stormtroopers walking by.

Assassin all the way. The class was designed in his image, and it fits him well.

He relies entirely on his own agility and expertise, using no armor whatsoever. He brings the Force and Lightsaber combat together.
