Kill credit mechanics

I was wondering if someone could clarify how the kills are credited inside warzones?

Do I have to directly damage someone to get credit or is there a maximum range? I'm asking this because I've been in games where my team has scored a high number of kills(40+), and I've been constantly healing them yet after the game I rarely receive credits for more than 5 kills.

As far as i know, you have to hit them.

Yes to this, also it seems you need to be within 30m at the time of their demise. I don't know this for sure, its just something I've noticed.

Perhaps it's bugged then. I drop Death Field like it's going out style, which hits 3-4 people at once, and have ended rounds with under 20 kills.

Ahhhhhhhh now it makes sense

you just have to be on their aggro list when they die (and to get on this list you must damage them, healing an ally will not do it).

Generally speaking, when you are too far away you get tossed off the list (very similar to how you get out of combat if you run far enough)

So is 30m the correct range for this?

Either way the range requirement is a bit too strict at least as a healer, since I depend on maintaining distance in order to survive.

So I guess the question is would it be game breaking if the range was increased to 60m~100m?

You'd never get out of combat that way (until the target in question dies, anyways), I think.

Honestly if there is combat happening I never go out of combat as it is, like I said I'm almost constantly healing if there is any sort of combat happening or running towards it.

I do see your point though, however since in this game there are distinctions made in the mechanics of pvp and pve I would think it is acceptable to implement this range for warzones only.

I guess maybe another question to consider is why does healing someone in combat put me in combat if I'm not even on the agro list of the person we're fighting?

ultimately this is a problem with healing in warzones currently you get very little reward for it other then knowing you probably helped your team far more then the guy with 11 medals.

Classes without any other healing skills than their out of combat slow regen one probably have different opinions, as do Stealth classes, they'd probably like getting out of combat now and then. As a healer it isn't big problem (albeit being able to regen your energy/force pool is rather useful, still)

It does seem a bit counter intuitive that as a healer its in my best interest to dps rather than heal in group combat.
