AzureBladeZ Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 For all of us who want to play and cant get your crummy launcher to work, make all the patch files available for manual downlaod
SSMorpheus Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I second and third that, I have never had so many freaking problems with a launch window. Patch downloads partway and stops at like 99% everytime and I have to close and restart the damn thing 10 times to get it to finish. And that is with a 2.5MB sec download rate. And it never changes seriously fix this already. Along with your damn 1003 code.

KnowingLoki Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I have "downloaded" the new patch, but my system had a crash due to an ASUS update and that led to me no longer being able to use my characters. I need to be able to update myself to ensure proper functioning.
MajikMyst Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 There is no way that the patch system can be manual or even should be manual.. Bioware can't have people playing 100's of different versions of the game because some people neglect to download patches when they are supposed to.. It will make diagnosing bugs impossible, as again, not everyone will be on the same version.. Patching must be mandentory to logging into the server.. That insures that we are all updated and playing the same version.. Sorry you are having issues with the laucher.. Perhaps a thread in the customer service forum is in order?? http://www.swtor.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=11 Making the patching system a manual process will create far more issues than it will solve..

I don't think you understand how manual patching works. Step 1. Try to launch game. "There is a new version available. Patching..." Step 2. Cancel patching. Step 3. Manually download and install patch. Step 4. Play the game.
DonAngelico Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 No the Launcher doesn't even concern BioWare. I have an R1 copy of Windows 7, this is not supported by the launcher or the game itself, despite the fact that I was able to play until the Rise of the Ratghouls patch. So tier 3 CS states that after looking at my MSINFO file that I have sent them, that my copy of windows is at fault and that I should format and reinstall windows again, then install the game again and run into the same launcher problem again. I'm going to try and see if I can get a patched copy of the game from a friend otherwise I am **** out of luck according to my many email and now phone conversations with customer support. If someone who has a the game patched to current would kindly help the rest of us and make a torrent we would be able to play. At least this is the understanding I have from what Bioware has told me. So can someone upload a copy of the game patched? Or are we all going to get arrested or our accounts banned if we decide to go this route because we will not be getting a manual patching option!

What are you sucking on? Biowares wang? Like seriously man none of what you said is true. We need to manually download THE SAME VERSION because bioware doesnt know how to code a launcher. You make me sick.
Daethorz Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) Odd suggestion, but i agree nonetheless GL for the suggestion and sucks that you have to go through the buggy crap... Unless a patch is hacked it would contain the same version and data as any other patch, that one comment makes no sence, So everyone using mumble has a different version? i don't think so. Enna_Illia Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I understand, but right now I'm trying to download the patch through the launcher and it starts at 5-8kb/s and drops to 0.0kb/s within 10 seconds, then it's "retrying" for a minute to five minutes before doing the same thing.... it would be MUCH easier if I could download a peer-to-peer or from a secondary source. I'm sure this is all coming from the same server, so the minute a patch comes out, it's probably being bottlenecked right from the start as everyone wants to play and everyone is downloading it at once. Its been on over half an hour and I haven't even downloaded 0.01mb out of 830.23mb (yes, I tried restarting the launcher, yes I checked my connectivity and I can stream HD video through netflix, download at minimum 800kb/s from a peer-to-peer connection, around 1.5mb/s from direct downloads and my connection speed is averaging 22mbps. I troubleshoot connection issues for a living and I'm running a custom rebuild pc that can handle pretty much anything I can throw at it right now. Plus direct connection from my modem to router to desktop all with 1gb ports except for the modem, which is still up to 100mb I believe. Point is that the bottle neck is definitely NOT on my end) There is no way that the patch system can be manual or even should be manual.. MAHC Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 ^ This is great, but are you missing 83? don't konw what folder to put it in.
MAHC Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 You are the man, did the manual way and finally got it to work. After four days of effing with this BS, it finally works. Thanks. Someone needs to make the manual patching part a sticky
Xeromem Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 The biggest problems with the launcher not patching correctly started when they began using BitRaider to distribute the patch downloads. The easiest way to see if you have the version of the launcher that uses BitRaider is to check the lower left corner of the launcher and see if there is the letters ST in it. If you see ST then you have the version of the launcher which uses BitRaider. The newer version of the launcher used since the release of 4.0 does not have the ST in the lower left corner of the launcher any more. From my own bad experience with Bit Raider about 2 years ago or so and in my work of repairing computers I've had to fix a number of problems caused by BitRaider as well as other Bit Torrent based downloaders. While BitRaider isn't the worst offender I still advise anyone to avoid using BitRaider if at all possible. To date I still do not know for sure if these problems with using BitRaider with the SWTOR launcher has been fixed yet.
REVAN_cz Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 (edited) Well Hello there is other option use non-streaming client [bitraider disabled] ,but this change will cause reinstall of whole client, but afterwards the launcher bugs will be minimal,i had always trouble with launcher that used bitraider,it did always show some glitch with patching. Thanks. Edit: I did not notice this post is so old ... nevermind. Edited December 12, 2016 by REVAN_cz
