sharkfinsix Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 First off, let me state. I am loving the game, however we picked a bad server and although i would just keep slogging thru it, my friends have lost interest in an empty server. In zones like Balmorra and Quesh which i am currently in, they have never had more then 9 players in Balmorra and 4 in Quesh while i am there. I am likely going to reroll alts on a new server in an attempt to find a decent republic population. I don't want to start my 37 Vanguard from scratch again, so i am thinking to shelf it until we can do transfer. It would be nice of Bioware would comminicate the plans for underpopulated factions on servers. Mergers incoming? Transfers? something?
TheBBP Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 It would honestly be worth starting over if you are that unhappy with where you are at. 37 levels is a good chunk but not a ton to lose if you think you would be happier on another server.

One thing I will tell you is this - you will be able to reach 37 on a new server long before server transfers arrive - I can promise you that. Rather than not play at all, start a new character and only quest when you have rested XP and dailies to do. You can level very fast in relation to hours played if you go for those two things only.
Thotor Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 they have more important issue to be adressed than server transfer right now imo
Chevex Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) I'm really looking forward to server transfers. I'm really hoping they don't charge as much as blizzard and/or I hope they give us a free transfer that is on some sort of month-long cooldown. I hate how much of a money sink WoW is and it's the reason I left it for good long before SWTOR came out. Edited January 23, 2012 by Chevex
urborror Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Some people can't find groups or play heroics or flashpoints. There were 8-15 Republic people on Alderaan on 4PM, Saturday Afternoon, a month after the game was released, on my server. I'm assuming Bioware designed their servers hoping for 1.5-3X the players and equal factions. A while back I wouldn't even try to find a heroic group without 50+ people on the planet. Now I'm begging when there's 20 during primetime. It's mainly people on under-populated servers playing Republic having trouble, but I can't even find any good gear for my trooper on the GTN, really. Via the GTN I sold some purple gear--to a player I'd grouped with already; then she sold some gear to me. We were amongst a small handful of people in that level range using the GTN at all.
Dourfett Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 the moment they start stuff like server transfers and cross server LFG or WZs is the beginning of the end. There is no sense of server community or anything if you start to make the game anonymous. Only thing i'd be OK with is if they start closing the really low pop servers and combining them with another really low pop server as they start to consolidate. Pay to go anywhere server xfers will severely hurt the game.
Chevex Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I have just given up on finding groups. I'm soloing everything I can and just ignoring the heroic quests. It's sad but it's way too much work get a group for them on my server. Only time I'll do a group is if someone posts LF1M in chat so I know I can get right in without having to stand around while we find another.

Cross server will have to added down the road, if they dont this game wont last by the time Guild Wars 2 comes out. I am already waiting 30 mins to get a FP group or getting in a WZ match. And i am at the point of saying screw this game and just wait for GW2.
Ripchord Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I think they'll have to consolidate servers soon. With all the subscribers they've lost recently they'll need to cut hardware costs and combine a few.
Ripchord Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Oh, maybe they can just bring the Republic players from some servers over to others who need more (but I think every server needs more Rebs). 'Port Nowhere' is a healthy population, we just need 50% more Republic players or so lol
