Kyus Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 With a sharpshooter spec, you have few options to help out in pvp, its expensive to invest in any skills in other skill trees with the exception of the cool down on flash grenades. We are a fairly well rounded and balanced class with some minor issues in comparison to our agent counterparts. In pvp we find ourselves a lot more mobile whilst being mobile you have the options of dirty kick, leg shot and flash grenade as your only affective cc/snare against melee. With our squishy nature you can often lose 20-30% of your health whilst trying to get into cover just to use pulse detonator. Other classes have a much better array of knockbacks as standard without the prerequisite of having to enter another mode (cover in our case) If this ability was available out of cover, it would provide a tactical benefit required by gunslingers, at no increase to our dps, more importantly with the large ammount of stuns in the game which remove you from cover, having an instant knockback available when you recover could greatly improve our survivability against stealth classes from almost 0 to maybe 1.5.
Awakelol Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I actually was considering this the other day. Most all classes get and AoE knockback that is easy to use, has a relatively low cd, and does not require cover. So why does ours have to? It makes it incredibly more annoying and difficult to knock someone in the correct direction, and often we have to blow other cd's, leg shot, dirty kick, flash, in order to get them to stay still long enough for us to run up, drop cover, and then root ourselves before we knockback. Other classes do not have this problem. In fact they can knockback while moving.
Rown Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I agree 100%. I see a lot of complaining about cover abilities, but this is the only one I truly feel is completely unnecessarily tied to cover. The whole point of the ability is to quickly get enemies off you and give yourself some breathing room, having to spend a couple seconds to get into cover first seems counter to it's purpose. It seems especially unnecessary when other classes who are already more mobile have similar abilities that can be used anytime. It would also make the Sabatour's Pandemonium skill actually worth picking too.
Erobor Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I think all common smuggler's abilities should be cover free. Half of smugglers (who went to Scoundrel AC) do not use cover. And as result - some useful skills became absolutely useless.

And as result - some useful skills became absolutely useless. Well, Scoundrels don't even have those skills to begin with. It's like saying Gunslinger should get Shoot First and be able to use it out of Stealth...
Kyus Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 Thanks for the positive replies everyone, glad to see we are in a similar boat, the class damage wise is in a nice place. not straightforward (tracerspam bh errrggg :S). We could use something like this to improve our survivability without increasing our dps to compensate resulting in too shorter encounter times.
hadoken Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 It basically already is with crouching being off the gcd. I guess the benefit would be you could use it while moving without stopping? Minor gain, really.
